Assisting the flood crisis in Timor-Leste

Leading up to the devastating floods this week, Timor-Leste was already facing a surging crisis of 472 active COVID-19 cases and its first death.

Now, the country faces the results of devastating floods that have left at least 27 people dead and thousands homeless. It is a mammoth and expensive task to provide new housing, fresh food, and clean water to those affected by this disaster.

Many, many organisations, companies and individuals have stepped up and are raising money through their networks to assist the Timorese people at this time of need. My business East Timor Trading has been no exception and we are doing everything we can to aid disaster recovery efforts and provide financial allowances to our hundreds of staff and their families to help them purchase necessities.

Even the smallest donation will help, because right now what the country needs is monetary donations so that resources can be purchased for the Timorese people.

Some of my connections here on LinkedIn have been long-time friends, others, I have only just met. I ask all my contacts and friends here to find it in their hearts to give even a small amount to help the Timorese people at this difficult time.

I provide here a few donation links. I have no connection to any of these, and there are many others you would find online:

CARE has a dedicated donation fund for the floods

GoFundMe has several funding lines open to choose from, so please have a look there. Specifically, I noticed these two:

The GoFundMe page started by Cheryl-Anne Stephens in Victoria, Australia, is providing updates on the food purchased from her fundraising efforts.

This GoFundMe page is delivering its funding to two Timorese women on the ground who are distributing food to the community:

Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully act on this.
