Association Professionals - You are Invited.

If you are an association professional committed to strengthening your skills and professional network to help your association benefit from strategic leadership, please join me at the Arizona Society of Association Executives Elevate Your Expertise: Connect, Learn, & Grow program October 28 & 29, 2024 in Chandler, Arizona. You will be joining a dedicated group of association peers for a workshop designed to help you reflect on your personal and organizational strengths and opportunities, and then hear and work with leaders who have "been there and done that" to think about how you will lead your association to greater heights in 2025 and beyond.

Here are some highlights from the agenda:

Leadership Skills and Competencies for Association Executives

Learning Outcomes:

  • Review the CAE competencies as a grounding in the myriad issues managed by associations
  • Identify the strengths, background and unique challenges you bring to the program
  • Collectively discuss what is needed beyond the CAE content outline for continued growth and success
  • Tap into the attendee perspectives to set goals for what you want to accomplish for yourself and your organization through Retreat participation.

Customer Experience (CX) Design – Thinking Beyond Member Benefits, Models for Improving CX in Associations

This is my chance to share the strategies and tools employed by leading, respected companies for sustainable growth that drives customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and financial success. We'll discuss how this can be adapted and leveraged by membership associations -- as it is by an increasing number each month!

Innovation and growth strategies: Leveraging Insight, Data, Industry Needs, and Opportunities
Managing the Portfolio and Flow: Evaluating Current Programs to Right-Size Time and Investment

We'll look at both sides of strategic association product and service management - how to decide what to do as well as what not to do. And we'll get beyond the basics by tackling proactive thinking about industry needs, partnering for next level success, and working with your Board to get beyond the "tyranny of the donuts" and make well informed, big decisions.

Finally, we'll wrap up by making sure you have time to sketch out how you will apply ideas sparked by this program -- and then test and refine those thoughts with your fellow participants. This all adds up to be a program well worth the time and investment to attend -- because you will leave with new thinking, direction and insight that can help you lead new opportunities and informed strategic choices for your association.

I'm excited to have been asked to help facilitate this program by Tracy Petrillo , EdD, CAE with whom I have collaborated in the past on ASAE's Certified Association Executive (CAE) program as well as other digital badge and emerging credentialing issues. Tracy is one of the smartest learning leaders in the association field and was recognized her leadership with the 2016 ASAE Professional Performance Award, the highest industry award for an association staff professional. Of course, we've leaned heavy into our belief in the CAE program, and structured the agenda and conversation to build on that important framework -- but also push beyond it to have conversations about what we need to do as leaders for practical, applied leadership in this ever-changing environment. And, full participation earns 12 CAE credit hours toward earning or maintaining the CAE.

I hope to see you next month in Arizona!
