Attention Unicorn Catchers... Did you find your "Unicorn" Candidate?
The #Unicorn_Catchers; aka #Recruiters...
Are you struggling to find the perfect candidate for your open role?
If you're on the hunt for the elusive "unicorn candidate," you're not alone. This term is used to describe the perfect candidate for a role, who possesses a unique skill set, and expertise, and goes above and beyond what the role entails.
However, finding a unicorn candidate is easier said than done. Other factors beyond the candidate's skill set, like #culturefit, #industry_knowledge, and specific #character and #personalitytraits, make it even harder to find them.
Here are some tips to increase your chances of finding the right candidate:
Unicorn candidates appreciate engagement, and being heard. They are solution-oriented, great problem solvers, people-oriented in nature, and servant leaders. Clear communication and flexibility are highly appreciated by them, and they definitely have sustainable high performance. Their thirst to learn and develop will always have them on top of their game.
But here's some #Food_for_thought; did you know that many candidates refrain from applying to a role if they don't meet 100% of the role's requirements?
This is particularly true for candidates from minority groups. For example, some women suffer from #Imposter_Syndrome, and some of the reasons they don't apply to some roles are their thought that they don’t fully have all the role’s requirements.

Research shows that if you have at least 70% of the role's requirements, you have a 95% chance of getting shortlisted for an interview.
So don't be discouraged from applying even if you don't meet ALL the requirements, and a key takeaway to employers: don't be afraid to consider candidates who may not meet every requirement on your list.
