Attitude makes big difference

Attitude makes big difference

Let us start with a story of three masons. A man came across three masons who were working at chipping chunks of granite from large blocks. The first seemed unhappy at his job, chipping away and frequently looking at his watch. When the man asked what it was that he was doing, the first mason responded, rather curtly,“I’m hammering this stupid rock, and I can’t wait ’til 5 when I can go home.”

A second mason, seemingly more interested in his work, was hammering diligently and when asked what it was that he was doing, answered,“Well, I’m molding this block of rock so that it can be used with others to construct a wall. It’s not bad work, but I’ll sure be glad when it’s done.”

A third mason was hammering at his block fervently, taking time to stand back and admire his work. He chipped off small pieces until he was satisfied that it was the best he could do. When he was questioned about his work he stopped, gazed skyward and proudly proclaimed,“I am building a cathedral, God's home!”

“Three men, three different attitudes, all doing the same job.”

Remember this quote by Zig Ziglar, "It is your attitude, not your aptitude, that determines your altitude." Meaning, how far you go in life in terms of your achievements (altitude) is more dependent on your desire and determination (attitude) than your talent(aptitude). This belief is also supported by Harvard business school study which revealed that 85% of the reasons for success, accomplishments, promotions, etc. were because of our attitudes, and only 15% because of our technical expertise.

Attitude indeed is a powerful tool that determines our approach to life. In fact, at work place,I have often experienced that having a right attitude at the beginning of a task affects its outcome. Because with the right attitude our abilities reach to maximum effectiveness, which ultimately lead to good results. Even relationships can be strengthened through right attitudes. In short, having aright attitude makes an incredible difference in our life.

Attitude is the way we think, feel and act. It is the thoughts we have in our mind. Success is achieved by having a right attitude. Our actions, feelings define our success. We ourselves control our actions and feelings so we control our attitude. If we think negatively it mainly affects our behaviour as people create doubts, fear, feelings of frustration.

Attitude is what we think of a certain situation or a thing. For example :- by having a positive attitude we start to act instead of react, our problems no more haunt us but instead we see them as opportunities and our impossibilities become possibilities. If we think positively it moulds our behaviour in a positive way eventually we gain positive results. On the other hand negative thinking will mostly turn into negative results. So if we know that our attitude is in our control it is wise to choose to have positive attitude and succeed in life.

Yes indeed, attitude plays a big role in defining your life as a whole. Personality traits like optimism and pessimism can affect many areas of your health and well-being. Positive thinking/attitude that typically comes with optimism is a key part of effective stress management. And effective stress management is associated with many health benefits like increased life span, lower rates of depression, greater resistance to common cold and much more

Developing a positive attitude towards life often starts with self-talk. Self-talk is the endless stream of unspoken thoughts that run through your head. These automatic thoughts can be positive or negative. Some of yourself-talk comes from logic and reason. Other self-talk may arise from misconceptions that you create because of lack of information. If the thoughts that run through your head are mostly negative, your outlook on life is more likely pessimistic. If your thoughts are mostly positive, you're likely to be an optimist — someone who practices positive thinking and have a more open approach towards life. Therefore, all I can advice everyone is to get charged up and develop a positive attitude for everything! You will soon see the benefits yourself ! Cheers!
