Automation Guild 2025 Voting, Performance in SDLC, Playwright Updates and More

Automation Guild 2025 Voting Now Open

I'm excited to announce that voting is now open for Automation Guild 2025. Every year, we survey previous Guild attendees to identify their top challenges, followed by a call for papers addressing these issues. The final step is voting on these anonymous session proposals to determine which ones interest you most for the 2025 event.

This democratic process, which we've refined over the past eight conferences, is your chance to have your voice heard. Head over to 👉👉👉 testguild.com/vote and cast your votes for the sessions that interest you most. We look forward to your feedback!

Playwright Update: Version 1.48 Released

Michal Drajna recently brought to my attention that Playwright has 👉 released version 1.48. Let's dive into some of the notable updates:

1. WebSocket Routing: Playwright introduced two new methods, page.routeWebSocket() and browserContext.routeWebSocket(), enabling users to intercept, modify, and mock WebSocket connections. This offers testers more flexibility when working with real-time applications.

2. User Interface Enhancements: The Playwright report now includes a copy button for annotations and test locations.

3. Memory Leak Detection: A new page.requestGC() method has been added for improved memory management.

4. Enhanced API Testing: The API request feature now records detailed timings and security information through HAR files, providing deeper insights for testers.

5. Browser Version Updates: Several browser versions have been updated.

Mastering Web Authentication with Playwright

Many users have expressed challenges with web authentication in Playwright. Addressing this, Divyarajsinh Dodia has published an article exploring 👉 how Playwright can handle web authentication.

Divyarajsinh delves into the configurations required for:

- Basic authentication, where credentials are encoded and passed via headers

- Digest authentication, a more complex method involving a series of challenges and responses

By leveraging Playwright, testers can effectively automate these authentication processes, simplifying the testing of web applications that require secure logins. The article provides detailed instructions on implementing these techniques.

Unlock Continuous Performance Testing: Webinar Replay Available

I'm excited to announce that the replay for the webinar 👉 "How to Elevate Performance & Functional Automation and Unlock Continuous Testing" is now available. For organizations striving to deliver high-quality digital experiences, embracing automated functional and performance testing is essential to catch bugs before users do.

However, achieving this is easier said than done. You need the right team members, skill sets, tools, and a streamlined process that ties everything together. Without these key ingredients, you risk creating bottlenecks and project delays rather than successful releases.

Watch the replay to hear performance automation experts from Octopus and Perfecto share how you can embed automated quality and performance checks at every stage of your software development lifecycle. Discover best practices to simplify workflows, view demos, and get answers to your questions about elevating automation in your CI/CD pipelines and scaling your testing strategy.

TestComplete Adds Performance Testing Capabilities

SmartBear has upgraded its 👉 TestComplete platform to include integrated load testing capabilities. This enhancement streamlines the testing process by allowing users to conduct both functional and performance tests within the same environment. This integration provides greater insight into how applications perform under different loads, ultimately helping to boost software testing quality by leveraging both functional and performance testing simultaneously.

SecureLayer7 Launches On-Premise API Security Scanner

In security news, SecureLayer7 has launched an on-premise 👉 BugDazz API Security Scanner. This release is designed to enhance API security by providing businesses with the ability to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in their API ecosystems. As cybersecurity threats become increasingly sophisticated, tools like this offer a timely solution for companies seeking greater control over their in-house security measures.

SecureLayer7 emphasizes that the on-premise version allows organizations to maintain data residency requirements and bolster their security posture without external dependencies. This is particularly valuable for enterprises dealing with strict data protection regulations.
