Aviation Fuels Update

Anton Paar are world renowned for their range of instruments used for the testing of aviation fuels. We have put together for you our latest news, plus a list of application reports that we think are relevant to you and that will help you in your everyday research, development and testing.

We hope you enjoy reading through and please feel free to get in touch if you need any help or support.

Application reports

ASTM D4054 - Scanning Jet Fuel and Determination of the Viscosity Borderline Temperature

For the evaluation of new aviation turbine fuels and fuel additives, viscosity and density at different temperatures as well as the temperature at which a defined viscosity is reached are important parameters for economic, ecologic and safety reasons. Anton Paar’s SVM 3001 delivers all these parameters from a single syringe. Read more.

Determine the Freezing Point of Aviation Fuel

The freezing point is an important parameter for all aviation fuels. It indicates the lowest possible operation temperature of fuels. The SVM 3001 Cold Properties provides the determination of freezing point as well as density and kinematic viscosity within one measurement. Read more.

Distillation of Jet Fuel to ASTM D86 with Diana 700

To verify the excellent precision of Anton Paar’s distillation analyser, we participated in the ASTM Proficiency Testing Program with the Diana 700. In this PTP the jet fuel sample JF 1811 was analysed by all participating laboratories (approx. 240). Comparing the values of the Diana 700 with the average values of the interlaboratory study, it became apparent that the results of the Diana 700 are clearly within the precision of the method. PMA 500 Testing the Flash Point of Jet Fuel to ASTM D93

Anton Paar participated in the ASTM Proficiency Testing Program to test the diesel fuel sample DF 22006 with the PMA 500 and achieved a top result.

The PMA 500 Pensky-Martens flash point tester is the ideal tool for monitoring the flash point of jet fuel. It is easy to use and safe with integral fire detection. It offers rapid turnaround between tests due to minimal handling for sample loading and rapid post-test cooling. Read more.

High Throughput Jet Fuel Viscosity Analysis

The SVM 3001 and SVM 3001 Cold Properites viscometers from Anton Paar enable rapid testing of kinematic viscosity and density fully compliant with the ASTM D1655 specification, as well as freezing point and viscosity borderline temperature.

Get precision equal to ASTM D445 with significantly less effort for cooling. For high throughput applications, with minimal sample handling and solvent usage the Xsample 530 can be used to form a powerful analysis platform. Read more.
