They're not just tinkering around either; Boom is already mapping out hundreds of potential routes for their Overture aircraft. Imagine zipping from Newark to London in just 3 and a half hours or hopping over to Frankfurt in a mere 4! Even transpacific flights, though needing a quick refuel, would become significantly shorter, think San Francisco to Tokyo in 6 hours.

This isn't just a pipe dream; Boom believes there could be a market for a thousand of these supersonic airliners by 2035. They're aiming for a price tag of $200 million a pop (in 2016 dollars, mind you), and they reckon the running costs will actually be lower than those lumbering subsonic wide-body jets. They're even planning a factory capable of churning out a hundred of these speed demons yearly! They're betting big on a future where we're all whizzing around the globe at supersonic speeds, and honestly, I'm here for it. It could make the world feel smaller and more connected than ever.
