Avoid the biggest business 'oops'
‘𝗕𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘆’ - 𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 ‘𝗼𝗼𝗽𝘀’ 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 - 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲.
I don’t know about you, but if there were a theme for the year that I hear most consistently from people, it would be, “I am busy being busy”. It’s building towards a major ‘oops’ that has the potential to decimate businesses while others who avoid it thrive.
‘Time’ is becoming a big issue for people. It’s a flow-on from the enormous shifts in lifestyle choices people have been making in the past couple of years. Working from home is a case in point:
◼ reduces travel time,
◼ allows us to spend more time focused,
◼ stops wasting time in idol chat,
◼ gives us time and flexibility to spend with family and friends.
We bounce from Zoom to Zoom - for talking to the team, networking, and meeting potential clients, suppliers, supporters and existing clients (if you have time to do any actual work). So here is where the ‘oops’ comes in…
Busy being busy = 'no time to invest in marketing' = the flow of work will slow
Last week, I spoke to a business that said they never do any marketing. I asked how they have generated new and maintained existing clients. The response was that we speak to our clients at least every quarter to check in on them, with no agenda. I told this person, well, guess what you are marketing!

While a call four times a year is good, it is limiting. The good part is that it is authentic content, not just something written by another person or blindly by an Ai. But it is insufficient to have any real cut-through; 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀.
I get it, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘩𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 to think about and is out of your comfort zone. You are great at what you do, but marketing does not bring you joy, so it slips down the priority list, which you know is an issue.
Let’s cut to the chase; when it comes to marketing, every business needs to think of itself also as a media agency. You need to feed information in multiple formats on multiple platforms multiple times.
Would you like to know the most sustainable and efficient way to generate massive marketing material?
Send me a message: ‘time back’, and we can chat to make sure you are not the one saying ‘oops’!
