B4 the Dirt Nap Weekly Newsletter 20 October 2023
Kia ora!
Welcome to B4 the Dirt Nap newsletter. Each week we bring you tips and ideas to help you live your best life NOW!
It's all about Service
This week we look at one of my favourite topics, Service. My family tree is full of ancestors and relatives who have a servant's heart. Whether we are serving others through volunteer programs, in our jobs and business, our country, or family and friends. There is something that fills the heart with love and gratitude when you serve others.
You feel accomplished when you have been able to serve others in whatever capacity you can. It takes you out of yourself and brings you into the present moment. It is only when you are in the zone of being present that you can truly serve.
Sometimes we are stuck in an area of service we do not enjoy. Stop thinking, I hate my job or wishing you were elsewhere. Challenge yourself to step back and find ways to deliver the BEST service possible. Remember it is not about you, it is about those you are serving. They have a problem and you may have the solution. Open your eyes and ears and LISTEN. Sometimes all they need is someone who will listen.
What are some of your favourite ways to serve others?
Have a super fantastic sparkling week!

Live Your Best Life NOW
Tip of the Week
Service is a cornerstone for living your best life, and it's about more than just altruism—it's a win-win for everyone involved. Offering your time, skills, or even just a listening ear can make a significant impact on someone else's day, while also fulfilling your own need for purpose and connection. Engaging in acts of service puts you in the present moment, pulling you out of your own head and issues, and giving you a wider perspective on life. It's a chance to exercise your strengths to benefit others. And let's not forget the ripple effect; your actions can inspire others to act kindly, creating a chain reaction of goodness that uplifts an entire community. Embracing a lifestyle of service is an investment not just in the well-being of others, but also in your own journey toward a super fantastic and sparkling life.
Genealogy & Family History
Tip of the Week
In the pursuit of genealogy and family history, the concept of service takes on a unique and multi-generational dimension. By delving into your roots, you're not just satisfying your own curiosity but also providing future generations with a rich tapestry of their heritage. Imagine the value of offering your research skills to others, helping them break down their ancestral brick walls or fill in the gaps in their family stories. By doing so, you not only deepen your own understanding of historical and cultural contexts but also give the priceless gift of identity and belonging to others.
Sharing your findings within family circles or broader communities like local history societies and online forums creates a collective narrative that benefits everyone involved. In essence, your passion for genealogy becomes a service that educates, unites, and offers a sense of continuity and belonging, linking the past, present, and future in a chain of shared humanity.

Book of the Week
I love this book!
The Go-Giver is a parable and it packs in some great lessons in a quick read. No fluff. It covers lessons on how to put others first and serve them. This is a book everyone should read as the lessons apply to both business and personal lives.
Travel Tip of the Week
Service Travel
Travel offers a unique platform for acts of service, allowing you to connect with diverse cultures and environments in deeply meaningful ways. Beyond being a tourist, consider becoming a traveler with a purpose. Engage with local communities, not just to understand their way of life but also to contribute positively. Voluntourism, for example, combines the best of travel with the spirit of service, enabling you to work on community projects while exploring new places. By doing so, you not only enrich your own life with new experiences and insights but also leave a lasting impact on the places you visit. Whether it's teaching English in a remote village, participating in environmental conservation, or simply picking up litter on a scenic trail, every act matters. The beauty of integrating service into your travel experiences is that it magnifies the joy and sense of accomplishment, making your adventures more fulfilling. In doing so, you’re not just seeing the world; you’re making it a better place.
