Baby Steps
Living intentionally leads toward greater self-awareness, purpose, and fulfillment. It's about making conscious choices that align with your values and goals, rather than simply drifting through life on autopilot. While the idea of living intentionally may seem daunting at first (I know!), it doesn't have to involve sweeping changes overnight.
It shouldn't include too much, too soon, or it won't stick.
Just as you don't go from sitting on the couch regularly to training for a marathon and instead should start with walks around the block, so should you approach incorporating intentionality practices into your day to day.
Here are a few ways to start, but... here's the kicker... don't commit to starting all at one time. I've broken out suggestions to incorporate each week so that within a month, you'll have a solid intentionality practice happening.
Week 1: Practice Gratitude
Gratitude is one of my favorite ways to have a positive mindset and see what's already abundant in my life. Try it. Take a few minutes each day to jot down three things you're grateful for. They can be as simple as a warm cup of coffee in the morning, a supportive friend, or a beautiful sunset. When you write it, see it. Really feel your gratitude. By focusing on the good in your life, you'll begin to shift your perspective and attract more positivity.
Week 2: Set Intentions for the Day
Start your day with intention by setting a clear intention or goal for the day ahead. It could be as specific as "I will prioritize self-care by taking a 10-minute walk during my lunch break" or as broad as "I will approach today with an open heart and a positive attitude." Write down your intention somewhere visible to help keep it top of mind throughout the day.

Week 3: Practice Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present and aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings without judgment. Take a few moments each day to engage in a mindfulness exercise, such as deep breathing, body scanning, or mindful eating. Notice the sensations in your body, the thoughts passing through your mind, and the sights and sounds around you. By incorporating mindfulness into your daily routine, you'll cultivate greater awareness and appreciation of the present moment. I shared this photo earlier this week. A morning like so many other mornings getting ready for school/work, but I was in the moment, thankful, and could feel the appreciation for the simple things in my life. It stuck with me all day. It's powerful.
Week 4: Declutter One Area
Clutter can create mental and physical chaos, making it difficult to focus and find peace. Choose one area of your home or workspace to declutter, whether it's a junk drawer, a closet, or your digital desktop. Start small and tackle one item at a time, and Marie Kondo it (asking if it brings you joy). Donate or discard anything that no longer serves you, and notice how creating space in your environment can create space in your mind. I cannot work in my office space with clutter. I can't relax with a messy house. This has been game-changing for me.
By taking small, intentional steps each day, you're starting your practice!
Remember that the journey to intentional living is ongoing and that progress is measured not by perfection but by persistence. Embrace the process, celebrate your successes, and be gentle with yourself along the way. You have the power to create the life you desire, one baby step at a time.
P.S. If you're ready this far (thanks!), and read the title and immediately thought of Bill Murray as "Bob" wearing a goldfish around his neck baby stepping out of Dr. Leo Marvin's office, I like you :)
Great analogy! Starting with small, manageable steps is key to sustainable growth. Just like Lao Tzu said - The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step 🌟

8moThank you for sharing this plan! I'm already doing 20 of the four items listed above. This next week I'll be adding in the de-cluttering as I know it helps free my mind up to be more creative. I can't wait for your book! I'm happy to review the cover if you'd like - my firm designs book cover and I'm a 3x bestselling author. Happy to help in any way!

8molove it. Baby steps, tiny habits work best indeed. That's how I got from 15' yoga to becoming a yoga trainer and incorporating it into the retreats and coaching practice.
