Below Harris reviews how one veteran is thinking outside the box to serve his community.

Think back to your time in elementary school...

Most of us are lucky enough to have at least one teacher or coach who made a difference to us.

Even today, most of us drive past an elementary school and remember that person who changed the trajectory of our lives.

How different it feels when you drive past an abandoned school… No children. No teachers. No dreaming. Just an abandoned building.

Most people write the building off and maybe even feel a bit disheartened.

But there are a few people in the world like Vietnam veteran Ken Kelly who saw the abandoned Watts Elementary School as an opportunity to give back to his community of military veteran and first responders.

By 2020, Ken plans to have the abandoned elementary school repurposed as a business incubator to rehabilitate veterans/first responders and train them in the art of entrepreneurship.

When you think about it…

What better use of an elementary school than to help military personnel get back to the basics of civilian life while embodying the heart and soul of the American dream.

Small businesses are a major part of our communities, and if everything goes according to plan, we will have 10 more small businesses by 2021 thanks to Ken.

Today, I want to challenge you to think outside the box and find ways to give back to the heroes in your community.

This is phenomenal work. Thank you for what you do. I am going to tell my veteran father-in-law about this. Take care.
