Norway and Portugal bolster collaboration ahead of Iberia’s offshore wind venture
Heavyweights from Norwegian industry are descending on Portugal to drive collaboration as Iberia’s offshore wind plan takes flight.
The yearly WaVec seminar is the place to be for offshore wind representatives. This year, Norway is the partner country for the event. ‘Portugal and Norway: Fostering Offshore Wind Supply Chain Development’ takes place at the Museu do Oriente, Lisbon, on December 3.
The open event is being hosted by WavEC Offshore Renewables in collaboration with the Embassy of Norway in Portugal, Innovation Norway and Norwegian Offshore Wind.
Norwegian ports met with the government to plan a port strategy
Without ports, we will not reach our target for offshore wind. Our working group met with two ministries this week, giving our input on a port strategy.
We had the following messages to the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries:
✅ The ports in Norway are dependent on a clear timeline with capacity per leasing round. Predictability is bankability!
✅ The Business Support System in Norway must develop support and lending mechanisms aimed directly at offshore wind ports.
✅ The government must, together with the industry, develop a strategy for reducing risk in port investment
