Beginner Coaching Lessons We ALL Need to Hear
Today I have a message that any coach, at any level can get massive value from.
In my 20+ years in this industry, I’ve seen so many beginner coaches struggle when it comes to signing up clients.
Rather than focusing on things that will help them build the business they really want, they focus on the wrong things when they try to attract people who will actually pay them.
And that’s where today’s message comes to life!
The Situation…
It was a packed house, and I was taking questions from the audience one after the other.
Then, as one audience member stood up at the microphone, laptop with notes in hand, she brought up an issue that was so important, that I actually got out of my seat to address the crowd about it.
Her main concern was that she was working really hard to meet with potential clients, and she was trying her best to deliver massive value to them during those meetings.
She would meet prospect after prospect, and each time she felt like she was doing a great job with each of them.
But something wasn’t adding up…
Clients were meeting with her consistently, so at least that was a positive — but in the end, people weren’t paying her.
So what was going on exactly?
The Mistake of NOT Offering What People Will Pay For…
After digging a little deeper into the issue I discovered what the issue was.
In fact, it’s something that a lot of coaches mistakenly do — so this is the part where you really need to pay attention.
So here’s the thing…
She was way more focused on doing something she thought the client needed and aligning that with what she was passionate about - rather than actually finding out what clients would pay for.
And if you don’t offer what clients want to pay for, then you risk not getting the clients you want.

That’s not to say you shouldn’t be passionate about your chosen topic and target market. Of course you should!
But what I mean is that if you don’t frame your coaching in a way that motivates your prospects to pay, then your coaching business simply can’t survive.
This is why I always say that speaking the language of clients is so important. Speaking the language of clients allows you to figure out what clients want and what they will pay for.
If your coaching offer sounds like something that won’t solve the challenge your prospects face, they’re way less likely to buy.
But on the other hand, if your coaching sounds like something that’ll help solve your prospect’s challenge, then getting paid is really the only logical choice.
And that’s the power of creating coaching that people actually want to pay for.
The Big Lesson…
As you go out from today onward and look to get new clients, be sure to focus on what your client will actually pay for.
This might mean that you need to frame your coaching in a way that you haven’t thought of yet.
A great way to find out what your clients will pay for so you can frame your coaching appropriately, is to ask your clients questions like…
What’s your biggest challenge right now and what will solving it mean for you?
What do you think the solution is and where are you currently looking for help?
When you do this, you vastly increase the odds of getting clients and this can change your business a lot faster and easier than you think.
