Behold the professional power of a tambourine

Happy Friday, LinkedIn community. My biggest professional accomplishment this week wasn't writing an article our hitting "publish" on one of our newsletters.

It was ringing a tambourine.

If you've attended the Sacramento Business Journal's annual Mentoring Monday, you're familiar with The Tambourine. It signals the start and stop of each 10-minute mentoring session at the event.

Our 2024 installment of Mentoring Monday happened this week. Influential businesswomen from across the Sacramento area gathered at Sierra College to give advice to guests at all stages of their careers.

The event has a "speed mentoring" setup where each guest can attend multiple 10-minute sessions and receive one-on-one career advice.

Mentoring Monday remains one of my favorite events of the year. We're lucky to live in a community where our list of willing mentors usually exceeds what's needed for the event.

Meanwhile, thanks to my trusty tambourine, I'm fortunate to have a front-row seat to 10-minute conversations that can be transformative.

Now, here's what else you need to know this week.
