Being a parent is tough yet so rewarding
I have the most enormous pride in celebrating that both of my children achieved amazing results in the past year, despite their challenges of having me as their mother.
It's not what happens in life but how we respond that makes the difference in so many aspects.
Sh*t happens to us all - believe me - I have a PhD in lifelogy, however, it's what has shaped me, although could have broken me too when all said and done.
I had the privilege of being personally trained by the late, great Bob Proctor (grand mentor of Tony Robbins et al) and his teachings are so needed in the fast paced society we currently find ourselves in.
During one of my podcast interviews yesterday morning, myself and my guest agreed that we need to bring back the 1960s in which we grew up.
In the 1960s, we never thought or even spoke about values such as community, respect, kindness and joy, health and happiness.
Why?
Because we simply lived them all.
Although I realise I could have been a better parent had I known then what I know now, I take pride in witnessing that my offspring have done well despite my significant lack of parenting skills and followed my lead by studying later in life.
I believe it's called leading by example.
At the age of 40 I graduated with an MBA, my son gained a first class honours degree aged 28 and my daughter graduated with her second masters degree this week aged 41.
Try not to beat yourself up.
We do our best with what we know at the time for our children. We are not perfect and every day is a school day.
My parents were of a generation that never expressed their pride and so I grew up never feeling worthy enough, never good enough, and never knowing that they were truly proud of me.
At my Mother's funeral wake I learned that she was the proudest Mama. So sad that she never told me herself, nor even that she loved me.
I have been trying for years to opening express the pride I have for the achievements of my offspring, yet I am deafened by the silence and pushed back by them in so many ways.
Nowt so queer as folk as Dad would have said. I wonder what he would have made of this mad world in which we currently find ourselves? Dad transitioned in 1976 and clearly from a different generation of parenting!

Mum joined him in 2015 and had been saying for years how scared she was of the way the world was heading.
There are so many opportunities and exciting times ahead. Let's get together to inspire and support the next leaders in society to help them make a positive difference in society.
With the amazing tech and know-how that's available today, the opportunities are endless.
Every day is definitely a school day for me. There is always something new and exciting to learn.
Let's embrace, cherish and share the opportunities together in a spirit of kindness, love and community.
Can we please rewind and bring back the 1960s when life was fun and loving, and less cluttered with today's divisive idealogies and opinions?

1yAt the end of the day, the values that bring happiness to us are the sense of belonging, love, effort to be better in our spirituality, and forgiveness. All the rest is noise 💚
