Best Career option for Semi Qualified Chartered Accountant!!

Best Career option for Semi Qualified Chartered Accountant!!

We have observed many a times that our friends or colleagues who are equally knowledgeable like us (qualified Chartered Accountant) but just because they have hard luck in clearing Final exam, they face below challenges -

  • Very Slow Career Growth,
  • Lower Remuneration,
  • Fewer Job Opportunities, etc

However, I would say unawareness about Global Freelancing field and opportunity to success in this field make a big opportunity lost for Semi Qualified CAs. I am writing this article to guide Semi Qualified CAs to explore this Global opportunity and Grow exponentially even more than their qualified counterparts.

It is obvious that the Internet has made finding work online easier, as well as it has made working remotely with teams across the globe, a possibility. Platforms such as Upwork are the most popular among freelancers

The recent Paypal report said that 23 per cent of Indian freelancers earn upto Rs 60 lakh per year, as mentioned in agency reports. Another 23 per cent earn between Rs 2.5 lakh and 5 lakh, while 55 respondents say that they earn less than Rs 2.5 lakh, a report in Times of India mentioned.

The mean income earned by Indian freelancers is Rs 20 lakh per annum, with a lot of the jobs coming from online operations. Web and mobile development, internet research, data entry, web designing are the key focus areas for Indian freelancers. Accounting, graphic designing and consultancy are also some of the avenues that Indian freelancers are engaged in.

The Main Reasons Why Semi Qualified CA should Explore Freelancing are -

Equal or Better Opportunity

Freelancing allows Semi Qualified CA to gain access to clients beyond any geographic barriers, be it different states in the country or even overseas locations. This helps a person stretch beyond geography and work on what rewards their skill the best. “Today the way business & people work is changing rapidly. Freelancing opens up a new world of opportunities to the global workforce"

One of the biggest advantages of working independently as a freelancer is gaining the freedom of choice and steering forward without any restrictions. Freelancing makes it very simple for a person to choose the type of work based on what interests and benefits them best. Freelancing allows to explore the projects based on interest of the professional rather than traditional job where one hast to do one project after another in the same area of expertise.

Being Relevant in the Area of Expertise

Freelance workers can engage themselves in projects of a large variety. Freelancers work with different sectors, different economies and different company setups rather than sticking to projects of one company. Traditional working methods revolve around projects of similar type in a single company, one after the other. A variety of projects provides increased exposure and growth, which is desirable to an individual.

Freelancing enables faster growth opportunities as compared to any full-time job. It also helps to nurture great interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with different kinds of situations. This is due to the exposure one earns while working simultaneously in a variety of fields and domains and with different people. “While it's always good to excel in one subject, freelancing exposes you to various kinds of companies and domains. As a result, you learn more in say five years of freelancing than being in one or two jobs in that same period of time”

Lower Investment of Starting

Freelancing empowers individuals to lead the much sought after laptop-lifestyle. It comes with immense freedom to work anytime, from anywhere in the world as long as the job is well done and on time. There is no Office Setup requirement of any complex Hardware requirement to start. Although I would recommend you to invest in your office, Hardware, Software and human resource as you grow in this field to upscale your Freelancing Business.

If you are doing job away from Hometown as you might not have better opportunity in your Hometown as a Semi Qualified CA, you can start Freelancing from your hometown where you enjoy lower cost of living.

Growth

There is no bar for you to grow in Freelancing Business as you would face in Traditional Job being a Semi qualified Chartered Accountant. It all depend on your skill, efforts and right approach.

Traditional workplace offers a fixed pay-scale, irrespective of the efforts you put in, in different projects. In freelancing, you earn as per project requirements. Each project has its own weight-age according to the hard work it requires and the deal you settle with. It doesn’t depend on your last drawn salary or any previous projects. The skills keep on increasing with each project and so does your earning.

Also Once established in this Field, Semi Qualified CA can demand better compensation based on his/her capabilities and expertise.
