Lumphini is for sure the most famous park in Bangkok and one of the largest with its 57,7 hectares. Located in the heart of the city (Lumphini district), it is particularly appreciated by joggers and greenery lovers. This "mini Central Park" offers a green and quiet escape from the busy and noisy urban life.

Monitor Lizard

Tourists are often curious to observe the many monitor lizards that live freely in the park and that love to walk among people and to sunbathe on the shores.

Bangkokians also love to participate in the social dancing courses given during the weekend.

The park was a private property of the King Rama IV who donated it to the nation in 1925 to be used as a fair ground.

2.RAMA IX PARK

Rama IX Park is the largest public park of Bangkok (80 hectares). It has been established in 1987 to celebrate King Bhumibol’s 60th Birthday. It offers a large area of greenery, a large lake where it is possible to rent a little boat and a magnificent botanical garden that is inspired by different countries around the World, including England and Japan.

The golden building erected in the middle of the lake offers a stunning view at sunset time.

This park is a bit more difficult to access because of its location on the periphery of Bangkok. The best way to go there from Bangkok center is to take a taxi.

3.BENJAKITTI PARK - NEW FOREST PARK

Opened in 2004, Benjakitti Park is situated in Asoke, a central district of Bangkok and one of the most attractive. It offers a long walk or run around its large canal, a flowery area and a beautiful view on the skyscrapers bordering the park.

In 2021, a new area was added to the original park and increased its total surface to become the second largest park in Bangkok. This area offers freshness and a green hilly landscape interspersed with wetlands. This part was designed to contain the monsoon waters during the rainy season and thus limit the impact of flooding in the areas around. Many birds and insects will love this new semi-natural area.

A skywalk that cross the park allows visitors to walk and admire the view from above.

Located in Mochit area (north of Bangkok), this park is close to the famous Chatuchak Market where most of the tourists go to find good deals, second hand clothes and traditional gifts. You can rent a bicycle and ride all around the park on the available bicycle track. A large area of greenery, flowers and small lakes is waiting for the visitors.

It is always a pleasure for couples, families and kids to sit on the grass or to walk/ride all around the park, under the fresh shadow of the numerous trees of the park.

5.BENJASIRI PARK

Certainly the smallest park of Bangkok, it is not very interesting to walk there, you will go all around in 10 min. The little lake is peaceful, it allows to sit or take a nap on the grass around. Teenagers or sporty people like this park for the skatepark, the basketball area and the volleyball area.

Moreover its location is convenient: located in the center of Bangkok (Phrom Phong area) and in front of one of the major malls of the city, EmQuartier. So it is easy to go relax in the park just after a shopping session. And after walking in the park, you can easily go to one of the skybars and rooftops around to take a drink.
