Prayer of an Afflicted Man for Mercy on Himself and on Zion.

A Prayer of the afflicted when he is weak and † pours out his complaint before the Lord.

1 a Hear my prayer, Lord!

And let my cry for help b come to You.

2 a Do not hide Your face from me on the day of my distress;

b Incline Your ear to me;

On the day when I call a answer me quickly.

3 For my days a have ended in smoke,

And my b bones have been scorched like a hearth.

4 My heart a has been struck like 1 grass and has b withered,

Indeed, I c forget to eat my bread.

5 Because of the 1 loudness of my groaning

My a bones 2 cling to my flesh.

6 I resemble a a pelican of the wilderness;

I have become like an owl of the ruins.

7 I a lie awake,

I have become like a solitary bird on a housetop.

8 My enemies a have taunted me all day long;

Those who 1 b deride me 2 have used my name as a c curse.

9 For I have eaten ashes like bread,

And a mixed my drink with weeping

10 a Because of Your indignation and Your wrath;

For You have b lifted me up and thrown me away.

11 My days are like a 1 a lengthened shadow,

12 But You, Lord, 1 a remain forever,

And Your 2 b name remains to all generations.

13 You will a arise and have b compassion on Zion;

For c it is time to be gracious to her,

For the d appointed time has come.

14 Surely Your servants 1 take pleasure in her stones,

And feel pity for her dust.

15 1 So the 2 a nations will fear the name of the Lord,

And b all the kings of the earth, Your glory.

16 For the Lord has a built up Zion;

He has b appeared in His glory.

17 He has a turned His attention to the prayer of the 1 destitute

And has not despised their prayer.

18 1 This will be a written for the b generation to come,

2 That c a people yet to be created 3 may praise 4 the Lord:

19 For He a looked down from His holy height;

b From heaven the Lord looked 1 upon the earth,

20 To hear the a groaning of the prisoner,

To b set free 1 those who were doomed to death,

21 So that people may a tell of the name of the Lord in Zion,

And His praise in Jerusalem,

22 When a the peoples are gathered together,

And the kingdoms, to serve the Lord.

23 He has broken my strength in the way;

He has a shortened my days.

24 I say, “My God, a do not take me away in the middle of my days,

25 “In time of old You a founded the earth,

And the b heavens are the work of Your hands.

26 “1 Even they will a perish, but You endure;

All of them will wear out like a garment;

Like clothing You will change them and they will pass away.

Revelation From God

Author

All of The authors of the Psalms are unknown, we know that Moses wrote (1), David (73), Solomon (2), the sons of Korah (11, including one to which the name of Heman is also attached), Asaph (12), and Ethan (1) it is possible that others also wrote some of the Psalms, as well!!!!

There is much speculation as to the author of the Psalms, some claim it was Moses, some David and Some Ezar. I think and arguement could be made for any of them. But for me the language points to Ezar as the Author as it is clearly a post exile writer, Ps 102:12, clearly represents a post exile writer.

Date

The date of the Psalms covers from the Exodus, roughly 1300 BC through the return of the exiles, 586ish some 800 years.

That would mean that Ps 102 must have been written after 586 BCE.

History

Ps 102 would be a post exile history and that of rebuilding Zion. 586ish BCE.

The Psalms, are songs, poems and hymns to praise and honor YHWH!!!!

Theology/Purpose

The Theology of the Psalms is to declare YHWH as Lord God almighty. That we need to trust in the ways of YHWH and not man, 2 Ki 18:1-37, 2 Mac 8:18-20, 2 Mac 15:1-39, Psa 37:3, Psa 56:4, Psa 118:8-9, Prov 3:5-6, Mat 19:26, Mark 9:23, Luk 1:37!!!!

The purpose of Ps 102 is to to teach the church, Qahal, Ecclessia, not to back slide into sins, Deut 8:11-14, Deut 12:29-32, 2 Ch 7:14, Ps 95:7-11, Tobit 13:6, Jer 3:22, Hos 14:4, Rom 12:2, Heb 5:11-14, but to keep our eyes firmly on YHWH, Ps 44:1-26, Ps 95:7-11, Mat 25:1-13, 2 Co 4:18!!!!

Exegesis / Hermeneutical

1. Pericope, (1), YHWH the Father, YHWH Ab,, Isa 41:10, Isa 43:11-12, Isa 45:11-25, Zec 14:9!!!! There are (28)m verses whose sum is (10) whose sum is (1) YHWH the Father, YHWH, Ge 1:1, Rev 22:13,  and is the embodiment of the perfect fulfillment of the Law Mat 5:17-20, Rom 13:8-10, Christ Jesus in You 2 Co 5:17-21, Eph 4:1-32. (28) is the product of (4) YHWH the Church, YHWH Qahal, Ecclesia Gal 3:26-28, 1 Pe 1:13-25, 1 Jn 3:11-24, 1 Jn 4:7-21, Rev 22:1-21 times (7) the perfect completion of creation, Gen 2:2-3, Rev 22:1-21, Christ Jesus in you,1 Cor 12:1-31, Eph 2:1-22!!!!
2. Keep our eyes firmly on YHWH Receive God's Love for US!!! Psa 102:1-11 Here we see Ezar making a plea to God that we need God's love to guide and mold us that we walk not in the desolation of the world but by the Love, Grace, Mercy and Peace of the Lord (Theophilus). This is calling for God to not hide His love from us (His Holy Spirit) but to fill us with His Love, Grace, Mercy and Peace. That being with out God's Love is like being in the baron wilderness, which equates to not feeling God's Love upon them. That when we do not walk in God's righteousness and faithfulness we wither away and we lose parts of our inheritance just as Moses and the rest of that generation did, when they lost faith and turned from God. So Ezar, is driving home that we must receive God's Love for us that we respond to that Love. 
3. Respond to God's Love In Faith : Psa 102:12-22 Next Ezar declares that we must respond to God's Love in Faith. WE must know that God is real and God is the God of all creation. That when we respond to God's Love in faith we will repent of our sins and share God's Love with all. Ezar declares for us, God is the God of all creation,YHWH, He is sovereign over all and that we must declare this in order that we receive our salvation and we must walk in it daily in order to receive our inheritance. We must keep our eyes firmly on YHWH Ps 44:1-26, Ps 95:7-11, Mat 25:1-13, 2 Co 4:18!!!!
4. Respond to God's Love by Repenting of Your Sins: Psa 102:23-28 Ezar than declare for us all, we will perish like old clothes and garments unless we repent of our sins and share God's Love with the world. God will change out the old sinful ways that we may relish in the new righteous and faith children of God. That we are the children of God and we will receive our salvation and our full inheritance when we walk in His righteousness and faithfulness. Thus we must keep our eyes firmly on YHWH Ps 44:1-26, Ps 95:7-11, Mat 25:1-13, 2 Co 4:18, that we do not back slide into sin Deut 8:11-14, Deut 12:29-32, 2 Ch 7:14, Ps 95:7-11, Tobit 13:6, Jer 3:22, Hos 14:4, Rom 12:2, Heb 5:11-14!!!!

Application

Lord Heavenly Father, YHWH Ab, keep my eyes firmly focused on You this morning and every morning that I receive Theophilus and share Theophilus with the World. That I walk in Your Love at all times and share that Love with all. Help me to teach all what You are teaching me that we may bring all back to the Body of Christ for all eternity. In YHWH Yeshua name I pray and I claim this petition Amen Amen Amen Amen !!!!

Conclusion

Ps 102 teaches the church, Qahal, Ecclessia, not to back slide into sins, Deut 8:11-14, Deut 12:29-32, 2 Ch 7:14, Ps 95:7-11, Tobit 13:6, Jer 3:22, Hos 14:4, Rom 12:2, Heb 5:11-14, but to keep our eyes firmly on YHWH, Ps 44:1-26, Ps 95:7-11, Mat 25:1-13, 2 Co 4:18!!!! Never take your eyes off the prize, never turn back to the ways of the world but continue to walk in your inheritance until you are walking with the Lord. Don't not be Lot's wife who lost her inheritance when turned into a pillar of Salt. She was saved only to lose the rest of her Inheritance, when she back slide into sin.
