The biggest and most surprising truth to help you win in business and life

The good book says 'ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free'...

And yet - so much of what we're being told, about everything is lies...

just lies... comfortable lies.

So for today's #SaturdayServing - we're getting back to the 'real real' and reaffirming the truth of what will actually help you succeed in business and life!

The Biggest Truth - 'Just be yourself' is stupid advice

Truly - it's the daftest piece of advice.

Especially because it makes the assumption that 'you' are a monolith. But you and I both know that you can't even show a consistent version of how you present yourself from when you're staying in, and going out - let alone with different groups of people in your life (yes we do notice the voice change and code switch)

And that's before we also recognise that we hope you're open-minded enough to consider some new ideas and change your beliefs based on newer better information - so who you are should have some elements of change anyway

Being yourself is predicated on a host of assumptions about the fact that you know who that is, and often that's also not the case.

We wear so many masks and field so many versions of us!

So being yourself rarely helps as much as we think...and that's just the start

Which Self?

Because there are so many versions... and not all of them are great for what's needed...

There's 'determined' us, but there's also 'lazy' us

There's 'focused' us - but also there's 'procrastination central' us

There's 'productive' us, but there's also 'fallen down a worm-hole watching cat videos' us

There's 'tryna-be-a-grown-up' us, and there's also 'petulant and petty' us

And each of those versions is still truly us.

But may not help us be who we want to be, or get to where we want to get to.

So better than being yourself...

Is the advice and support to being your BEST self

The version of you that improves things

That remains authentically and empoweringly you - but will deliver you the best outcome for who you want to be and where you want to go...

That's the you that you need

Your best self...

Get to know her. Get to love her. Get to trust her - she will take you to the most remarkable places

The problem with other peoples advice. As well meaning as it maybe, is that while it might be the perfect advice for the person giving it, it may not be of any use for the person receiving it. We are all different and what works well for one person may be the kids of death for someone else.

So much 'useful' advice out there doesn't work... So it's important to check for efficacy rather than for what sounds popular
