What’s new from Meta (Facebook, Instagram, Threads) in May 2024
In a recent Q&A, Instagram Head Adam Mosseri said that the number of shares a post has impacts reach more than comment count or watch time.
Instagram is testing a "Lately" story highlight. When this option is turned on, the highlight will save your stories from the past 7 days for your followers to view.
At a Creator event in NYC, Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri said that reels longer than 90 seconds will hurt its distribution. This is very interesting since Instagram keeps increasing reel length times. 🤔
Instagram is changing its algorithm so that smaller creators can get more reach. These changes include:
👉 Replacing reposts with original content in recommendations
👉 Adding labels to reposted content, linking to the original creator
👉 Removing content aggregators from recommendations

Threads is on fire with all of their new feature testing! The latest test is pinned columns for Threads on desktop.
Threads has added a Recent filter so that it's easier for users to find timely, relevant content faster.
Meta expands access to Meta Verified for businesses The Meta Verified business subscription is now available in Argentina, Mexico, Chile, Peru, France, and Italy. Previously, the subscription was only available in Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.

Universal Music Group and TikTok have an agreement Phew! We're glad to see this one. UMG and TikTok have agreed to a multi-dimensional deal, which means all your favourite artists are back on TikTok.

LinkedIn launches 3 games Well, the rumours were true! LinkedIn has announced that they have launched 3 in-app games, Crossclimb, Pinpoint, and Queens. You can access these games by going to the News module on the homepage.
LinkedIn adds labels to AI-generated content LinkedIn will now give AI-generated images and videos a label to let the audience know that it was created with AI.
