Biking at 9200 Feet, A Queens Return, Finding Hidden Rainbows and Pots of Gold

"This life is what you make it. No matter what, you're going to mess up sometimes, it's a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you're going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they'll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they're your true best friends. Don't let go of them. Also remember, sisters, make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they'll come and go too. And baby, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can't give up because if you give up, you'll never find your soulmate. You'll never find that half who makes you whole, and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn't mean you're gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don't, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life's a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about."

My butt hurts. It’s been a while since I mountain biked, Young Nate and I rented a couple of high-end bikes for a 2-hour trek up a mountain yesterday. I hike almost daily, so I thought I would be in good shape, but I was wrong, mountain biking is different that hiking, we were at 9200 feet, adding another level of difficulty.   My body is aching this morning; it feels good.

Happy Sunday, I’m sitting on my deck, there is a lot of activity to my right. I’ve got about ten chipmunks running around, a rabbit, two squirrel, and three stellar jaybirds.  It’s a minizoo, something nice to watch on a beautiful morning. I’m looking at the horizon; I can see about 180 miles from where I sit.  I can see Denver; it’s about 50 miles away. I live in paradise; I’m grateful for my life.

My Queen returns tonight; she will be coming to the mountain house, Young Nate will be heading back to the condo for a night with the girls before getting up at 3:00 a.m. and heading back to Indiana. It was a fun weekend, we packed in a lot, I am hoping my partner had fun, but between you and me, I missed her. I don’t like being away from her, it’s rare, but still, I feel lost when she’s not around.

We fly back to Indiana tomorrow, a few days of work in the Midwest before returning here for some work on the company.  My hot tub just shut off, she cycles every morning from 8:00 to 8:30, I have a woman that stops by monthly to clean, check the water, do maintenance on the tub.

The sun is turning up the heat, mornings on the mountain deck can be a little hot this time of year, most mornings, you need a jacket, but today, no shirt is needed. No pants are needed either, but I don’t think my neighbors who can peek onto my deck would appreciate a National Geographic type show.

I can hear my neighbors; there’s a lot of activity this morning, kids, dogs, parents, all making sounds. Everyone seems to be enjoying their day; I hope they make it productive! I’ve got some work to do this morning, no a lot, but some loose ends I need to tie, I plan to tidy up my work and then head off for another 2-hour hike.

I learned about a new application yesterday. I was sitting at our local diner, the owner always comes over, and we talk about various hiking spots. She gives me tips as to where to hike, and I give her feedback on her recommendations. Yesterday I was telling her about my hiking project app that shows every hiking trail based on your geographic location.

The young man and woman sitting next to me said: “have you tried MTB project?” I said “no, but then downloaded that app, both are from REI and are a crowdsourced app that allows people to log and share their trails. I’m not sure how much I’ll be using the MTB app, but the hiking project is something we use almost daily.

I’ve found taking a mile hike in the middle of the day can give me energy. I can walk, think, find solutions to problems, and be creative all while walking through some of the most beautiful places in the world.   When in Indy, we hike the urban routes, but our heart rate does not climb the same as when in elevation, we try and compensate, but hiking on flat land is not as effective as our elevated bipedal movements.

We installed a ring camera at our bird station. We have a few bird feeders; I like to watch the birds and the chipmunks. When not at the mountain home, I thought it might be cool to check on my minizoo. The first night we had the camera installed, a large black bear helped him or her self to some of the birdseed, it’s pretty amazing waking up knowing you are 3 feet away from where a bear was standing just a few hours ago.

Not a lot of motivation today, more of a recap for myself to remember my time away from my Queen. I have friends that take trips with their friends and leave their mate behind, but I don’t like being separated from my partner. I enjoy spending every waking moment with her; I like laughing with her, loving her, and doing life together. I think the reason I’m so happy is that I am one of the few humans that has found true love. True love is fuel for your soul, and when you find it, life begins to show you the rainbows and pots of gold that were hidden before arriving at the intersection of love and truth.

If you have yet to find it, keep searching, there is a mate out there for you.  One that will laugh when you laugh and one that will cry when you cry. When looking for a mate, use the abundance theory, there are 7.7 billion people on the planet, and one of those folks will speak and enjoy your love language.

That’s it, that’s all my tired brain can dish out this morning. I hope you too had an amazing weekend, I hope you can catch up and get ready for a busy week, I hope you are in love or soon will find it and begin to see those hidden rainbows and pots of gold, they exist, I promise.
