Speaker ideas for Black History Month

Black History Month 2024

Black History Month (October 2024) is a time to recognise and celebrate the rich history, culture, and contributions of Black people in Britain. The observance began in 1987, inspired by the American celebration, but with a focus on the unique experiences and histories of Black Britons and those from across the African and Caribbean diaspora. The movement is not just about celebrating past achievements but also confronting the ongoing issues of racial inequality and systemic discrimination. It encourages learning and reflection, promoting conversations about diversity, inclusion, and social justice. By celebrating Black History Month we acknowledge the vital role of Black communities in shaping the nation’s past, present, and future. It is a call to action for a more inclusive and equitable society, where every voice is heard and valued. Chartwell Speakers represents a diverse array of speakers who can provide valuable insights and perspectives on Black History Month.
