BLESSED

BLESSED

Matthew 5-12:

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he had sat down, his disciples came to him. He began to teach them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus is speaking to each of us and offering all the opportunity to be Blessed. The formula for being Blessed by Him (and living with Him Eternally in Heaven) is not complicated; in fact, it’s incredibly-simple. Try this right now…interject your name into this Scripture and you’ll Feel (through the Power of the Holy Spirit) exactly what I’m sharing with you here.

For example, I would interject my name into this Gospel as follows: “Blessed is Gregg when he’s poor in spirit, for his is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed is Gregg when he mourns, for he will be comforted. Blessed is Gregg when he’s meek, for he will inherit the Land. Blessed is Gregg when he hungers and thirsts for righteousness, for he will be satisfied. Blessed is Gregg when he is merciful, for he will be shown mercy. Blessed is Gregg when he’s clean of heart, for he will see God. Blessed is Gregg when he’s a peacemaker, for he will be called a Child of God. Blessed is Gregg when he’s persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for his is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed is Gregg when they insult him and persecute him and utter every kind of evil against him falsely because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for his reward will be great in Heaven.”

So, we should not wait to insert our names “fully” into the Sermon on the Mount; for in so doing, we will inherit our Rewards in Heaven. But, remember, in order to insert our names “fully” into the Sermon, we have to live-out these values and take on these challenges head-on. And, Jesus promises to be with us each and every step of the way!
