🤝After a long period of negotiation, Italian boatbuiding giant Sanlorenzo Group has acquired a 60 per cent share in Finnish sailing yacht maker Nautor Swan.

A four-year period is planned between the closing of the agreement and the transfer of 100 per cent of the shareholding, which is planned for April 2028. This is designed to allow a gradual integration of the two brands and the sales network. The deal is worth a reported 80.9m euros.

Founded in 1966, Nautor Swan has grown to become a leader in the segment of shipyards producing yachts between 28 and 131 feet. In addition to its shipyard, the firm offers services including Nautor Swan Charter and Brokerage, Nautor Swan Global Service—which provides global assistance—and ClubSwan Racing, its sports division.

The Boatbuilding Technology Centre (BTC) in Pietarsaari, Finland, will remain the main production site for Nautor Swan sailing yachts.

“I have dedicated 26 years, together with a skilled and professional team, to developing and transforming this already famous and iconic shipyard into an international brand recognized for quality, elegance, and reliability, the key elements at Nautor Swan’s core,”

says Leonardo Ferragamo, Nautor Group president.

“Signing this agreement represents another milestone for our strategy. During the past months, together with Leonardo Ferragamo, who’s been able to transform a yard and its boats into an iconic and international brand, and Nautor Swan Management, a solid industrial plan, in terms of product development and synergies related to production, technologies, commercial and economies of scale. We are talking about a niche brand, ultra-exclusive, whose philosophy is aligned with the one we have in Sanlorenzo.”

Says Massimo Perotti, president and CEO Sanlorenzo Group.

Nautor Swan will be helmed by Leonardo Ferragamo, retaining the office of president, with Massimo Perotti as CEO, and Giovanni Pomati as co-CEO.

Visconti & Associati assisted Sawa (for Nautor Swan) in the management of all the legal aspects and negotiation of the agreement. Sawa has also been assisted by CC & Soci, acting as Financial Advisor, Heritage Holdings, acting as strategic advisor for the business plan, and Unicredit as consumer goods and retail advisor.

In the past year, Sanlorenzo has made several major acquisitions. These include Simpson Marine — a dealership based in Asia — a stake in Italian artisanal furniture producer Duerre, and 49 per cent of the share capital of Sea Energy, an Italian company specialising in the design, production and installation of electronics and electrical systems for the yachting sector.

🇬🇧 The UK Sailing Academy (UKSA), headquartered in Cowes, has announced Henri-Lloyd as its official performance clothing partner.

UKSA is one of the largest maritime training providers in the world, with over 6,000 young people experiencing life-enhancing water-based adventures each year.  In addition, UKSA’s MCA and STC- endorsed professional training sees some 2,000 people each year training for careers in the marine sector.

The partnership with Henri-Lloyd will see all UKSA staff and instructors kitted out in the latest high-performance technical clothing from the marine apparel brand.

UKSA students will also enjoy a personal service from the Henri-Lloyd Cowes store to select their required Henri-Lloyd clothing and accessories at beneficial rates.

Henri-Lloyd has a heritage spanning seven decades, and the new 2024/25 sailing collections have been designed to keep people safe, dry and comfortable, from coastal and inland boating through to the most extreme offshore conditions including high-octane racing.

The brand is also being used by INEOS Britannia in this year’s America’s Cup campaign.

“We’re delighted to be recognised as the official performance clothing partner at UKSA. Our two organisations share similar values and a love of sailing – UKSA was established over 35 years ago thanks to the desire by its founders Sylvia and Noel Lister to introduce as many young people as possible to the inspiration and challenge of sailing. Henri-Lloyd was founded in 1963 with the ambition of revolutionising clothing that would enable people to be safe, dry and comfortable in all conditions. By helping UKSA students and participants benefit from access to the very best technical and performance clothing, we hope they will enjoy their time on and off the water.”

says Knut Frostad, executive chairman at Henri-Lloyd

“UKSA is a maritime youth charity which provides life-enhancing water-based adventures, education, and world-leading maritime training working closely with funders and partners to assist young people from any background to access UKSA programmes.  It is thanks to the support and generosity from organisations like Henri-Lloyd that enables us to continue to remove socio-economic barriers and open the accessibility of the maritime industry. We’re delighted to be partnering again with Henri-Lloyd, a company that shares the same ethics and values as we do.”

says Chris Frisby, director of training and operations at UKSA

🇧🇬 Omaya Yachts has announced the hull of its first OMAYA 50, a revolutionary 50ft luxury catamaran that redefines spacious ocean living, is now out of the mould, at the Bulgarian shipyard, along the banks of the Danube.

Commencing construction in late February with the first yacht due on the water in late September, the 30-strong Omaya production team will begin work on the second hull in August 2024, ready for delivery before the start of the 2025 season.

As part of the latest production update, Omaya Yacht confirms the installation of its internal systems with the furniture soon to be installed.

This hull offers the GARMIN EmpirBus and Sentinel’s remote boat monitoring and control system to enable owners to manage their boats' essential systems and equipment seamlessly. It also integrates Raymarine’s systems, including Fishfinder, Radar VHF, Satellite TV and various cameras via its multifunctional display units. This model also includes Dockmate for a stress-free docking experience.

“We’re really excited to reach such a landmark stage of the production for the first hull of the OMAYA 50. As with any new project, it wasn’t without its ups and downs, but we are on the home straight as we head towards completion early this autumn. In addition to the state-of-the-art systems, the first hull is also upgraded with the fantastic addition of a silent mode, which allows you to operate all systems and equipment onboard while on anchor or moored at the marina without running the engine or generator, just using solar panels and battery banks. We also have the ability to supply Omaya yachts with the latest connectivity systems, such as Starlink, should the owners request this.”

says Kaloyan Radulov, co-founder and CEO of Omaya Yachts

Crafted with precision at the esteemed Elica Yard, the OMAYA 50 is distinguished by its unmatched beam of 8.4 metres, enhancing both the aesthetic and functional qualities of the yacht. It boasts expansive lower decks and a customisable salon that promises unparalleled comfort and luxury. With the ability to host up to ten guests and additional crew, the yacht ensures every journey is a lavish, comfortable experience.

The launch of the OMAYA 50 is just the beginning, with the brand already planning to expand its fleet to include 62ft and 80ft options, continuing to blend luxury with practicality, meeting the needs of adventurous families and ocean explorers alike.
