Body Interact – An interactive training solution for the next generation clinicians

The foundation of professional medical training in clinical education. Clinical education is designed to educate and develop the professional prowess to provide the best possible care in clinical settings. Competent and efficient clinicians cannot be trained in the absence of clinical education, and any flaw in clinical education jeopardizes their effectiveness. The new age requires a new classroom that facilitates all their clinical training needs.

More than 100,000 users around the world use Body Interact, a virtual patient simulator devised for 18 different therapeutic areas in a clinical setting. Using virtual patients, it enables current and future healthcare professionals to develop their analytical reasoning and decision-making abilities in a secure and interactive environment. Experiential learning, according to medical educators, should be at the heart of medical education. Simulation can be an effective learning method. Through Body Interact’s virtual patient scenarios, students will have the opportunity to acquire skills they will need as medical professionals since they will prepare in a secure setting very similar to the real world.

Integrating virtual reality as an ancillary educational tool in clinical education can drastically enhance a clinician's performance. Now it is possible to train doctors to perform suturing, ultrasound, and nursing procedures using virtual reality. VR has been identified as a crucial tool for medical training, and this method of training results in greater accuracy. Educators and learners can benefit significantly from interactive clinical training, which is economical, consistent, and formalized.

Body Interact straddles the line between classroom instruction and high-fidelity medical simulators. The framework is accessible from any location, at any time, and on any device. The versatile design of Body Interact’s simulation case reports bring new aspects to self-directed and collaborative learning. The scheme is well-suited for healthcare, nursing, and paramedic education, as well as professional certification at hospitals, clinics, and simulation centers.

Body Interact comprises a wide variety of features. Lifelike virtual patients appear in Body Interact's game center, giving the user a realistic user experience. Moreover, it can be configured and adapted to a variety of medical case study scenarios. It can be accessed through the web from a variety of devices, including tabletops, projector screens, and iPads/tablets. Furthermore, the practice deals with cases related to cardiovascular disease, respiratory diseases, infectious diseases, strokes, and diabetes. The course allows learners to engage and get familiarized with the experience of emergency room and chronic care. Prehospital Care, Home Care, etc. Similar to real life, cases can be worked on under time pressure and with rapidly changing information, and it has a multi-cultural roster of Virtual Patients and varying patient circumstances. The system offers a wide range of learning opportunities, such as over 325 medications, 300 health conditions, 160 medical tests, 60 interventions, 220 clinical scenarios, and 60 physical exam items.

Edwin Dale proposed during the 1960s that learners retain more information by doing rather than hearing, reading, or watching. A hands-on or field-based learning experience is believed to be the most effective learning method. Direct, intentional experiences reflect reality or have the closest approximation to it in daily life. It is estimated that "action-based learning" methodologies achieve up to 90 percent retention. When individuals use perception-based learning styles, they learn better. Cognitive learning strategies involve sensory input. It is more likely that learners will gain understanding from a resource if there are many sensory outlets available for interacting with it. The hands-on learning experience with Body Interact helps the learners to retain a great fraction of what they have learned and the game-like – immersive experience gives a complete sensory engagement which initially benefits the learners and subsequently his learners

Clinical education issues have a detrimental effect on the profession of a medic, and as a result, they have a direct impact on public health as well. One of the issues that students face in clinical education is their fear of making mistakes. Several issues have been identified in clinical education, along with a lack of clinical expertise among clinical educators, irrational clinical evaluations, and unsatisfactory faculty facilities.

Body Interact can be further used by students to receive extra assessments. Additional assessments, which frequently entail lab tests, electrophysiology, imaging, and decision aids, can assist students in arriving at a diagnosis for a treatment plan. When a diagnosis is made, the product allows for medication administration. Any therapy will have an immediate effect on the patient and will change their health status.

During the peak of covid, virtual patient simulations from Body Interact offered a distance learning alternative that highly aided educators and students as clinical rotations were suspended. Through virtual classrooms and individual practice and assessments, academics were able to ramp up students' medical exposure to Body Interact.
