“Having the basics—a good bed to sleep in, good relationships, good food, and good sex—is most important, and those things don’t get much better when you have a lot of money or much worse when you have less. And the people one meets at the top aren’t necessarily more special than those one meets at the bottom or in between.”

“Imagine that in order to have a great life you have to cross a dangerous jungle. 📚 Cognition of the Book’s Big Idea
Based on Ray Dalio's own experiences as the creator of Bridgewater Associates, one of the biggest and most successful hedge funds in the world, "Principles" is an extensive manual on life and work. "Principles and Life," "Principles and Work," and "Life Principles" are the three primary sections of the book. Dalio places a strong emphasis on accepting reality and handling it with objectivity, making judgments based on in-depth research, and never stopping trying to do better. He presents ideas like "radical transparency" and "radical truthfulness," which support a candid and open atmosphere where criticism is welcomed and errors are seen as chances for improvement. In Dalio's method, a set of values and analytical thinking are combined to create a meritocratic workplace where the greatest ideas prevail.
Dalio discusses his management philosophies in the second section, emphasizing the value of creating an innovative and high-achieving culture. He talks on how to get success by setting clear objectives, recognizing and resolving flaws, and utilizing team members' talents. In addition, Dalio offers a thorough framework for making decisions that covers problem diagnosis, solution formulation, and taking necessary action to bring about desired results. Using stories and real-world examples from his career, Dalio illustrates his principles throughout the book, making the ideas understandable and applicable to readers. In the end, "Principles" is a book that anyone wishing to apply Dalio's thoughts to their personal or professional life can use as a guide and memoir.

The only way to ever achieve success is through failure. There are very few exception, like win the lottery (but even then people who win lose their money because they have no experience with failure)
The trail of success leaves clues, but not guarantees. Nobody is guaranteed success, the only way to succeed is to never give up on your goals. As long as you never give up, you can’t possibly fail.
