Brain Chip - Yes or No?

Brain Chip - Yes or No?

Computer chips inserted into the brain have been foreseen for decades. Until now however, there has not been much discussion about the ethicality of this.

The cut-off line (i.e., do you do it or not) has not been defined, determined, or agreed) so knowing whether to do it or not has been hard to establish.

I suggest that the cut-off line might be the "normal" human standard. The problem is that the definition of "normal" is broad and contentious, but leaving that aside, this might be a reasonable guide.

Where the implant of a chip into the brain helps a person reach "normal" is a beneficial outcome. A person with a certain type of disability for example, can be helped to lead a more functional and "normal" life.

The challenge comes however, where the chip implant takes a person from "normal" to somewhere above "normal".

The human species is very interesting. On one hand, our species demonstrates amazing positive attributes, such as science, engineering, medicine, space travel, etc. On the other hand, it also possesses the attributes of hate, greed, intolerance, racism, lust for power , and so on - tragically, the list is long.

When a chip implant takes a person "up to normal" then the positive attributes of our species are clearly evident. When the chip implant takes a person beyond "normal", then it risks being motivated by our species' negative attributes - and that's the problem.

There is little chance of our species eradicating the negatives, so is it an inevitability that chip implants will be used to optimise benefit to the proponents of our species' negatives for their own benefit or advantage?
