BREAKING : THE MUSK TWITTER SAGA CONTINUES
Happy Monday marketers and business owners!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are ready to tackle the new week. Let’s dive right into it!
#1 Instagram’s Rolling Out Its New In-App Post Scheduling Tools to Professional Accounts
Instagram is now extending its new in-app scheduling features to be available to all of the app's professional accounts after testing it out with a small group of users over the last several weeks. You can now schedule images, carousels, and Reels directly in the Instagram app up to 75 days in advance, as you can see in this example. To schedule a post, head to the creation flow then tap ‘Advanced Settings’ before sharing the post. Tap ‘Schedule this post’ and then select the time and date you want it to go live. Tap ‘Schedule’ in the post composer. Now you're good to go!
#2 Instagram Now Allows Users to Add Music to Still Image Posts
Instagram now allows users to publish still images with music, adding yet another option to incorporate music into the platform. You'll now see a new 'Add Music' option in the post creator flow, as seen in the image above, where you may browse for a tune to add to your photo post. You can pick a section of the song between 5 and 90 seconds to use, adding more background to your message. I understand that TikTok has achieved great success by incorporating music and that this update will provide us with more creative alternatives, but is it really necessary?

#3 Facebook Adds New Groups Options
Facebook has introduced a new group feature that allows every member to make themselves group admin. I've no idea how this got through Facebook’s development flow, but it seems like an immediate confusion and angst-filled path for most communities on the site as the hate comments have already begun. The update seemingly opens up room for more problems than solutions by giving members too much power, which is exactly what we don't need right now given Facebook’s current issues surrounding fake news and trolling. This is one feature that is definitely worth disabling.
#4 The Musk Saga Continues On Twitter
Twitter recently acknowledged the need for an official marker for some accounts as a way to combat potential fraud. The next day, Twitter abruptly changed course and declared that certain accounts will not now bear the "Official" label while simultaneously assuring us that they were "aggressively going after impersonation and deception." Twitter then went on to announce that they would in fact be launching the grey ticks, with Musk shortly after choosing to kill the new ‘official’ badges, just three hours after they were launched. You'll need to search around for a while if you're looking for definitive answers regarding Twitter's future. Everything seems to be up in the air, and it appears that way will continue for a while. Uncertainty is definitely on the horizon as Musk himself warned that Twitter will "do lots of dumb things" in the upcoming months.

2yThanks for the round-up. I don’t do much IG marketing, so I completely missed the in-app scheduling feature. Good to know.

2yI have to say that everything Elon does ends up as a bit of a white knuckle tide.. History will tell us that whikst he doesn't always reach the aims that he sets in the timescale he wants, he always ends up far closer than he would have done if he sets an aim.. Generally, with Elon, you have to see what he says and in what time scale... Then water his aims by about 40% take the timeline, double it an add a unit (so 1 day becomes 3, 2 weeks becomes 5 weeks... Etc). Then you're not far away from reality.. The ride from 0 - to Elon time can be fun! He shoots from the hip!
