BT Investigating Hack After Ransomware Group Claims Theft of Sensitive Data
UK telecoms giant BT has launched an investigation after the notorious ransomware group, Black Basta, claimed the theft of a significant number of files, including sensitive information. Black Basta added BT — specifically its btci.com and btconferencing.com domains — to its Tor-based leak website, claiming to have obtained roughly 500 Gb of data, including financial, corporate, and personal information.
Black Basta has hit hundreds of organisations since it emerged in 2022, and one year ago it was reported that it had made over $100 million from ransom payments.
