Building momentum with CKO 2022
Building momentum with CKO 2022
Do'ers gathered in Athens and Miami to advance our mission of enabling greatness through the cloud
Coming off of two supercharged weeks, covering 15,756 miles to host our first in-person global company kickoffs, which were both intense and inspiring. We brought the DoiT International team together to celebrate reaching some pretty audacious goals and set the agenda to continue the momentum as we soar into 2022 on the continued path of hypergrowth.
Enabling greatness through the cloud
We are a group of nearly 300 cloud enthusiasts whose mission is to enable a robust, resilient, cloud-enabled world. Never has there been a more exciting time to be a part of a technology revolution!
We have one offering and one mission – to enable greatness through the cloud.
DoiT CEO Yoav Toussia-Cohen is a man who personifies momentum. In the opening keynote, he spoke of the original charter of DoiT: to deliver a simplified customer experience. This remains at the core of DoiT’s principles. We are laser-focused on further developing our technology and cloud consulting expertise to enable our customers to focus on rapidly scaling their business.
This coming year will see further investment in three key areas:
Working with and for our partners’ success
DoiT occupies a privileged position at that pivotal point between the customer and the cloud service provider, fulfilling the requirements of both. Partner spokespersons from AWS and Google Cloud joined the CKO to talk about their relationships with us and how we work together to advance our customers’ goals.
They singled out DoiT for the clarity of our offering and the excellence of our execution. With the major cloud providers focused on capturing market share, DoiT plays a significant role in working with born-in-the-cloud companies.
For cloud providers, a unique alignment around customer obsession is a central tenet of a good partnership, as well as cutting-edge skills and speed of delivery. Customers want to pursue their opportunities quickly but at low risk. This is where DoiT plays a key role in bringing the power of the cloud to more users in more industries.
Build - Tell - Grow
My colleagues and I took to the stage to speak on the themes of Build, Tell and Grow.
Build
Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Vadim Solovey reminded us of the spark that motivated him to create a company built on delivering the agility, innovation and technological cost-effectiveness originally promised by the public cloud. This was DoiT’s founding purpose, going all-in on a radically simple business model with a sophisticated cloud engineering service at its core.
Chief Product Officer John Purcell is messianic about the enormous potential of the cloud market. He referred to the tens of billions of dollars in revenue that AWS and Google Cloud generated in Q3 2021 alone, with each cloud provider growing ~40% in the quarter. These kinds of figures illustrate the almost limitless potential of this expanding market.
Customers want to do more: They want more automation around security and governance. They are navigating FinOps to extract maximum business value from the cloud. Their insistence on the best services is pushing them into the multicloud estate.
As these and other areas come into greater focus, our teams are always on hand to support customers as they channel the cloud to create the future.

What DoiT can deliver for our customers and partners is only part of the story; communicating what we do and how we do it is pivotal. And that’s where the marketing team comes in. Our goal is to equip go-to-market teams with the ability to consistently tell the DoiT story with a humble, straightforward and differentiated approach.
Our message is simple: We are a team of trusted technologists who believe the cloud is the future. We geek out on the most complex and essential challenges brought on by the plethora of cloud services.
Working with DoiT, scaling businesses get a technology portfolio to help them quickly realize cloud cost savings, solve the most challenging cloud issues and avoid cloud billing surprises. All of this alongside focused, expert consultancy and unlimited technical support, at no extra cost to our customers. This allows them to focus on what they do best, rapidly growing their business. Customers want to spend more time building code – not managing costs and untangling issues- so we help them do just that.
Grow
Chief Revenue Officer Scott White addressed the question of preparing for the hypergrowth that lies ahead.
While DoiT is crushing typical benchmarks related to responsiveness (check out our live stats page), NPS, and Net Revenue Retention (NRR), our goal is to build a cohesive and consistent global account management approach to engage and support our customers, as well as drive adoption of our technology suite to help customers navigate cloud consumption costs.
During the past two years, DoiT has helped customers by adding value and showing empathy, focusing on delivering results and being highly action-oriented, understanding that the cloud is an enabler of value for our customers but it is not the answer. As Vice President of EMEA Sales James Moore put it: “You don’t build a great business just by having an amazing cloud; it’s a function of delivering a product or a service to their customers.”
These are the companies that are building the future, and we need to be able to simplify the cloud across every function in our customers’ organizations to ensure that they can harness it to achieve their business goals.
Listening to special guest Ben Hizak, co-founder and COO, Cherre
CKO 2022 provided a superb opportunity for us to hear customers speak about their experiences with DoiT. In Miami, Yoav chatted with Ben Hizak, co-founder and COO of Cherre, a company that organizes TBs of real estate data to improve investment, management and underwriting decisions. As Ben explained it: “We puzzle those pieces together.” Cherre’s tech stack is a complex one that has evolved since its launch in 2016, with help from DoiT. “We are doing innovative things with Postgres and BigQuery thanks to DoiT’s support.”
One of the key challenges for Cherre is supporting its exponential growth. The company’s team has grown to about 100 people, but recruiting expert staff is an ongoing struggle, so as soon as new engineers are hired, they get straight to work on the product. Ben pointed out, “the problem with the cloud is that you pay for what you forget to turn off.” As Cherre prioritizes serving clients first whilst saving dollars later, costs can rise quickly if not proactively monitored, making a partner like DoiT invaluable for taking care of optimization.
As it expands and grows in complexity, Cherre is also adding to its suite of tools, putting a strain on internal resources, so the more cloud services DoiT can support, the more Cherre can focus on its core business.
“Being in our corner and helping us talk to the right people at Google Cloud and use the best technology,” is how Ben describes the way DoiT meets the criteria for an ideal cloud partner. Summing up Cherre’s relationship with DoiT over the years, Ben pointed out that “DoiT has grown and I haven’t felt a decline in service. Yoav still picks up the phone at 10:pm and genuinely seems glad I called.”
Developing Do'ers
To fulfill our mission of enabling greatness through the cloud, it is vital for us to enable greatness among Do’ers. Chief People Officer Kristen Tronsky shared staggering details of our growth path – over 20,000 job applications received in 2021, more than 2,100 interviews conducted and over 175 new Do’ers hired.
In the midst of this explosive growth, our Do’ers carved out their own paths and expanded their roles. At both CKO events, individuals from various functions spoke about their journeys with DoiT and the career progression they have enjoyed. All described different experiences, but they shared a genuine commitment to their teams and a drive to grow both professionally and personally.
Several Do’ers highlighted the potential for leveraging the growth of the company to take on more responsibility and make an impact. As more people join DoiT, the intellectual wealth across all teams expands, creating a resource that all individuals can tap. Here are just some of the great tips for career development that emerged at CKO 2022:
#have-fun
Human-to-human interaction is rare at a 100% remote company, so we relished the many opportunities to make and strengthen connections with our fellow Do'ers. Teams got to experience the history of Athens and the blue waters of Miami with offsite events, friendly competitions and cutthroat scavenger hunts – I even got to dip my toes in the sand for a minute!
Now that CKO has wrapped until next year, I leave feeling invigorated, inspired and thrilled to have shared the energy, ideas and sense of purpose that swept through Athens and Miami this January. Collaboration is central to winning as we grow. Yes, we have big, audacious goals, but we also have expert teams in product, engineering, architecture, marketing and sales to help us achieve them. We built bridges across teams, we made friendships and we stacked hands on our commitment to serve our customers in ways that allow them to reach new heights.
