Building World-Class Talent for Billion Dollar Results

Building World-Class Talent for Billion Dollar Results

In its 80-year journey to becoming a market leader in numerous categories across automotive, audio, and enterprise solutions, HARMAN has experienced various phases of growth. I recently visited our facilities in Székesfehérvár, Hungary to meet with our management team and local officials in a region that perfectly encapsulates this reality. The transformation we’ve achieved since establishing our business in the country clearly symbolizes what HARMAN’s people are capable of achieving across the globe.

My visit to Hungary came after a recent trip to our facilities in Romania, where we’ve achieved similar and superb results – once again demonstrating the impact delivered by our people. Whenever I visit one of our global facilities and witness our world-class workforce in action, it’s crystal clear that our people are the incredible force powering our unique business, innovations and culture.

Hungary: A Growth Engine for Our Success in Europe

Starting as a small team of a couple hundred in Székesfehérvár developing the latest in acoustics, our powerhouse team of engineers, project managers and more at HARMAN Hungary has grown today to become one of our largest operations in the world with a team of more than 4,600 employees. This rapid growth and development of world-class talent has made HARMAN a top employer in the region and the recipient of numerous awards.

In becoming one of the leading organizations in Hungary by revenue, we’ve continually grown our presence in the region. Over the years, we’ve established a second location in Székesfehérvár and now operate two offices in Pécs – including an automotive facility and recently opened a Professional Services-focused facility. In order to continue our exponential growth that has been critical to both HARMAN and the region, we’ve established partnerships with Óbudai University and other leading organizations in the region to invest in joint innovation.

Hungary has enabled our growth and ability to develop world-class talent in Europe for the better part of three decades. It is a model for how local teams can deliver a global impact.

Romania: Bolstering Our Talent & Technology

As an emerging technology hub that is brimming with potential, Romania has become a core facility for HARMAN Automotive since it was established in 2017. With more than 700 engineers, software developers and project managers, our team in Bucharest embodies HARMAN’s collaborative mindset and mantra of delivering on time and at cost. Working with leading OEMs in the region like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, VW and others, our teams have been applauded by customers for their agile approach and ability to deliver on high priority projects. HARMAN Romania also proved itself to be essential towards our contingency planning and business continuity programming during the pandemic – a reflection of their unwavering work ethic even during the most difficult times.

Boasting a local workforce of over 200,000 IT professionals, with 45% of those under 34-years old, Romania promises a pool of young, dedicated and highly-skilled technology talent. Recognizing this potential, our management teams have formed strategic partnerships with leading academic and technical institutions like Politehnica University of Bucharest to invest in this talent. The launch of HARMAN Women’s Network Romania in 2017 and our Bootcamp traineeship program, designed to nurture and attract local talent, are some of the many ways in which we’ve created yet another powerful growth driver for our organization.

HARMAN continues to set ambitious goals for its near and long-term future. With the investments we’ve made in key growth driving markets like Hungary and Romania, and the remarkable talent pool in these regions, we are proud of what our world-class workforce continues to achieve.

The full HARMAN management team is looking forward to working with each and every one of our people to convert tour vision into a reality.
