The CA. Department of Social Services' Office of Tribal Affairs is recruiting for a Staff Services Manager I position.
Job Description and Duties
The Staff Services Manager I will provide supervision of the OTA analysts and serves as a lead in organizing and planning of the program development of the office and tribal programs. The manager will directly supervise a specific unit in the OTA and oversee tasks and objectives of the work related to building and improving relationships between Tribes, Counties, and CDSS to improve DSS implementation of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA). The Manager will provide oversight and guidance of the technical assistance development of tools related to Tribal Affairs. The Manager will also serve as an SME to internal CDSS programs on Tribal Affairs, Tribal Governance, Tribal Engagement, and Tribal Consultation and ensure staff are skilled and prepared to provide technical assistance. The Manager will develop organizational strategies and procedures for the OTA projects, programs, assignments, and initiatives.
This position is a statewide recruitment, the incumbent will be headquartered in the county nearest their residence, within the following counties: (Humboldt, Butte, Fresno, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Alameda, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento, San Diego, Santa Clara, and Sonoma).
Telework may be allowable for this position based on operational needs for employees who can perform their essential functions remotely and/or whose duties are conducive to teleworking per CDSS’ Telework Policy and in accordance with Government Code Sections 14200 – 14203 for employees residing in California.
All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Social Services policies. Advance in-person notice will be?provided when possible. Candidate must be able to commute to the Sacramento Headquarters or identified CDSS office location when needed. Expenses related to travel to the office are the responsibility of the employee if residing outside of the advertised counties. If telework/remote work ends, the position will have to report to CDSS headquarters in Sacramento/ or the closest CDSS office nearest of incumbent’s residence.

Salary: $6,963.00 - $8,650.00 per Month
