CA RESULT 2017

Fear is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat that occurs in certain types of organisms, which causes a change in metabolic and organ functions and ultimately a change in behavior, such as fleeing, hiding, or freezing from perceived traumatic events. Fear in human beings may occur in response to a specific stimulus occurring in the present, or in anticipation or expectation of a future threat perceived as a risk to body or life. The fear response arises from the perception of danger leading to confrontation with or escape from/avoiding the threat (also known as the fight-or-flight response), which in extreme cases of fear (horror and terror) can be a freeze response or paralysis.

Thank god I never read medicine; otherwise I would have the same definition of fear as above. But fear does exist! And within few days some of us might be undergoing the same biological and mental phenomena.

The result day is rushing towards as the stride of tides ready to pull us inside the ocean. Now it’s upto us what we chose to do because the tide knows what it need to do with us. Either we can sail on the tides or we die beneath the tides.

“The highest result of education is tolerance.”

                                                              Helen Keller

We all come into this life with a positive view of the world. We were excited and imaginative, and we saw the entire world as our playground. Then somewhere between the post school life and the CA student life, many of us seem to lose that optimism for life. Perhaps this stems from telling ourselves that we have to “grow up”, “be serious” and become more realistic. Or perhaps it’s caused by those doubts that creep in our heads after our first failure, making us wonder if we are just not good enough to ever be that super student. Or could it simply be the result of running ourselves ragged trying to meet the demands of those around us (those who are not aware of CA Student’s life and ask silly questions like how many attempts, semesters, etc.).

Three things no one can stop it’s inevitable:

1.     Death;

2.     Income Tax; and

3.     CA Result.

So now we know that result is an inevitable part of our life, and we have to deal with it whether you like it or not. Let’s divide this conversation in three parts: Part 1 – Pre Result; Part 2 – Result Day; and Part 3 – Post Result. Now let’s discuss how to handle these three stages of result in a positive and effective manner.

Part 1 – Pre Result: HOPE

Stay positive and happy. Work hard and don't give up hope. Be open to criticism and keep learning.

What’s done is done: Remember, what is already done cannot be changed. Whatever you have written in that piece of paper cannot be redone. All you need to do is have faith in yourself and prepare yourself for a better future. The day you wrote your exam paper, you were pretty sure of the results. Though there might be slight variation in the result to be declared, but still you know about your performance!

“Proper Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance”. We can plan our future by working in the present. If you have doubts about the result then start your studies in advance. If you are positive of the results then prepare yourself for the next stage, i.e., campus Placement. Read the current affairs, business news, tax reforms, companies act, etc. This way you’ll be saving a lot of time in future.

While you wait…

·       Keep on with your life. Don’t miss out on happy moments worrying about something that you cannot predict.

·       You can consider taking up hobbies and doing things that you love to do.

·       Learn something new that has always caught your interest.

·       Outings, trips and excursions help you get away from stressful environments.

·       Enjoy little moments with family and friends.

Part 2 – Result Day:

Just as every picture has two sides, the result day is also a day of happiness and joy on the one hand and a day of sadness and disappointment on the other. Surely it is the most exciting day of CA course, the day on which the heart beats fastest. It is a day on which we are judged and awarded according to our performance in exams, a day of pride for the outstanding students and a day of disappointment for those who did not perform according to their expectations in the exam.

Remember, results of a piece of paper do not define you. Exams are conducted to just make you learn things and not define your capabilities. I have had real life examples where people have scored low or rather failed but done better in real life in long run. Your life is build up with your choices and hard work, results are always secondary.

Part 3 – Post Result:

I wish everyone could clear the exam, but this is CA where no one can predict about the result. So let’s discuss in a realistic method. Those who won’t be making this time, analyse where are you lacking. Find your weakness and hit it with massive preparation. To clear these professional courses, the old method of just cramming the content is not going to work anymore. I have my personal Plan of Action for the period between result and the next attempt. Oscar Wilde said – “Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you get the result”.

Plan of Action for those who won’t be able to clear this time:

1.     Don’t waste your time in crying and howling;

2.     Find the weak point where you are lacking, at the earliest;

3.     Make a schedule and religiously follow it;

4.     Get your answer sheet from ICAI, so that you can know the lacunae in your writing pattern;

5.     Don’t keep any subject for the last moment;

6.     Start meditation, yoga or a health regime (not more than 30 minutes a day);

7.     Create a Power group of friends for study;

8.     Fix your study hours;

9.     Have time for entertainment.

10. Practice, Practice, Practice.

Plan of Action for those who cleared the exams:

1.     If you cleared only one group, then follow all of the above steps.

2.     Those who hit the jackpot, i.e., became CA, for few days enjoy your success;

3.     Then at the earliest decide what you plan for the future, job, practice, business or further studies;

4.     Those who choose to go for job, start reading the current affairs of past 6 months;

5.     Read intensively in the area of your expertise;

6.     Build a strong resume and impactful covering letter;

7.     Create an impressive Linkedin profile;

8.     Write down your introduction for two minutes;

9.     Network;

10.  Prepare for the campus;

11. Those who choose to go for practice, get your COP as soon as possible;

12. Try to have a team of partners, or else you can start on retainership basis;

13. Network;

14. Create an impressive profile of your firm;

15. Attend lots of seminars;

16. Buy and read books;

17. Write articles on different social media;

18. Join a club, rotary, lions club, etc;

19. Learn the Art of Public Speaking;

20. Network with other professionals in practice and job;

21. Those who choose to go for business, get trained under someone before investing your hard earned capital;

22. Those who want to go for further studies, keep in mind there are many options and all are very lucrative;

23. You have options like, UPSC, CFA, CPA, MBA(CAT/ISB), Actuarial, etc.

Infuse your life with action. Don't wait for it to happen. Make it happen. Make your own future. Make your own hope. Make your own love. And whatever your beliefs, honor your creator, not by passively waiting for grace to come down from upon high, but by doing what you can to make grace happen... yourself, right now, right down here on Earth.
