Calling all (future) atmospheric scientists! We have the perfect course for you

When? January 20-24 2025

Where? National Centre for Atmospheric Science, Fairbairn House, University of Leeds

The Introduction to Atmospheric Science training course, delivered by the National Centre for Atmospheric Science, provides students and early career researchers with a broad overview of atmospheric science - laying down the foundation for more detailed study and fieldwork.

Leading atmospheric scientists will introduce you to the key concepts of atmospheric science, broadening your understanding of atmospheric processes and interactions.

Participants will build their knowledge while developing an awareness of how their work relates to others in the atmospheric science community.

The key areas covered in the course are:

1. Introduction to weather systems (including atmospheric thermodynamics, weather systems, cloud physics, atmospheric boundary layer)

2. Atmospheric composition of the mesosphere, stratosphere and troposphere

3. Air quality and atmospheric aerosols

4. Climate (including variability and modelling, atmospheric chemistry, radiative forcings)
