Now, here are three things to know this week…
Apply now to join the CO— 100: Instead of saving the best for last, I’m going to jump right in and tell you what I’m most excited about this week. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has just launched an expanded small business awards program and it’s better than ever. We’re calling it the CO— 100 and it’s an opportunity for you to be recognized as one of America’s Top 100 Small Businesses. This list of exceptional and innovative companies will have access to exclusive experiences, expertise, and special events, and will be featured on CO—, the U.S. Chamber’s platform for small businesses. (Also, one company will be named America’s Top Small Business and receive $25,000!)
We’re recognizing excellence across a number of categories including innovation, digital transformation, community involvement, and more. You can start your application here and if you use this special discount code (SMALLTLK30) you will get 30% off the application fee. The deadline to apply online is July 8, 2024. Our team at CO— will be reading them all and we can’t wait to hear about your business.

Quiet Vacationing: It seems like every month there’s a new, cute Internet term to describe employees not working. This seems odd to me since everyone I know seems to be working harder than ever. The latest is “quiet vacationing,” which basically means your employees are pretending to work but aren’t really doing much. If you’re worried your team isn’t trying its best, maybe it’s time to rethink how you motivate them. Writer Anna Baluch recently interviewed the CEO of the self-serve frozen dessert chain 16 Handles for his take on how to motivate workers to excel and commit to doing a great job (and no, the answer is not all-you-can-eat froyo.) You can get his advice here.
Done & Done & Ready to Teach You How to Do It, Too!: I love featuring small businesses who are living the entrepreneurial dream and this one really checks all the boxes. It’s a mom and daughter who are doing what they love - helping people get organized. The most amazing thing, though, is how they’ve managed to leverage Facebook ads to exponentially grow their business. If you want to learn how they did it, you can check out our story here and keep your eye out for a course they are developing to teach other small business owners how to use social media to grow their businesses.
