THE CALVARY IS NOT COMING!
You have lost your job. It was a good job, and one you enjoyed a great deal. You made excellent money, and had many wonderful relationships with co-workers and clients. That was yesterday, and yesterday's gone. One of the things many of us do when we have lost meaningful work is that we think about our life as it was, not how it is going to be in the future. The calvary is not coming! There is no superhero in your future. There is however a hero......that person staring back at you in the mirror.
It is time to build a plan. It is time to build structure around your day, every day. Your job now is to find the best position you can in as quick a timeframe you can. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, your situation, your plight. Begin today to build that plan. Start with your time. Be sure to spend it wisely. You have no time to waste. Next, take stock of your network. Reach out to all of the people in your network. Invest in a few cups of coffee, to learn who might be hiring. Although you want to search out a few on-line job sites for organizations hiring, do not spend your days on the job boards looking for that perfect situation! Do that early in the morning, and spend the balance of the day out in the world.
Besides managing your time, you must manage your emotions. This search is going to take time. People will not call you back nor respond in a timely way to your applications. Relax and get used to that. Never take this rejection & ignorance personally. Take care of your health during your downtime. Read more. Spend quality time with family. One key tip: park your ego at home and lock it there. You may need to take work you do not love at a salary you really do not like. Let's call this a bridge job on the road to your best life yet! Finally, write down all of your professional successes. This will not only help your new resume, it will truly help your confidence. There is great work out there, and creating a strategic, solid plan will help you find what you want by clearing that history in your head. Work it!

6yReally enjoyed your article Jack. I was one of those people back in April and I survived. The good Lord had a plan for me. I finally checked the ego at the door and followed it. Good things happen to good people, just be faithful and have patience.
