Can taking Viagra reduce your risk of Alzheimer’s Disease? – New Study says ‘YES’!

QuickDoc.Ca is very excited to share this important medical news!

Alzheimer’s is a disease feared by most people and rightly so, it is the most common form of Dementia and an estimated 6.7 million North Americans aged over 65 are living with Alzheimer’s disease today. It is the sixth leading cause of death in North America, an absolutely horrifying fact.

Well, what if there was a way to reduce that risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease by up to 54% by taking a commonly prescribed medication? Viagra (it’s active ingredient sildenafil) may have all the answers! Viagra was first linked to a reduction in Alzheimer’s disease in 2021 by neuroscientists experimenting in laboratory settings utilising simulated neurons.

However, it is the most recent study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s on the 19th March 2024 which is showing significant promises in the reduction of this cruel disease.

Sildenafil (the active ingredient in Viagra) is a phosphodiesterase -5 inhibitor. It is able to modulate various pathways in Alzheimer’s disease progression and also associated with improvements in memory performance and oxidative stress markers. The authors of this recent study suggest that taking sildenafil has shown a reduction of Alzheimer’s disease incidence by 54% and a prevalence reduction of 30%. These results are remarkable by scientific standards and are extremely promising to our aging population and there is hope that sildenafil will be repurposed as a medication for Alzheimer’s disease.

As with any new monumental scientific breakthrough, randomised clinical trials are needed to validate the causal treatment effects of taking sildenafil and the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

At QuickDoc.Ca , our medical practitioners are currently able to prescribe sildenafil (Viagra) for erectile dysfunction. QuickDoc.Ca encourages you to continue enjoying the benefits of your sildenafil prescription, with the added bonus that you may be preventing Alzheimer’s Dementia in the meantime.
