Can the US-China Trade War lead to a healthier planet?

On August 5, China ordered a halt to all agricultural imports from the United States. Eat that!

CNBC calls this "China’s exit from US agriculture" a "devastating blow."

Let's envision together what will happen next, shall we?

Trump cannot continue to afford to pacify his political base by propping up US monoculture monsters by giving them unfair agricultural subsidies. He cannot continue to parcel out $16 billion bailouts to farmers. This will cause him to lose the election.

Specifically, I want to see a disappearance of agricultural subsidies that artificially prop up grains that are grown solely to feed cattle. CBS News exposes how large farms are exploiting loopholes to go beyond subsidy caps to collect up to $2.8 million in one Missouri soybean farm's case. Higher beef prices will force a reduction in beef consumption and more exploration in new plant-based alternatives. The cattle industry is responsible for 15% of all global greenhouse gas emissions, and needs to be curbed.

Milk companies stop paying schools 1 million USD each to give out free milk to their students. They stop preventing healthy vegetable juices and infused waters as the preferred alternatives.

This forces a shift to non-commodity permaculture, and encourages more awareness of local eating.

Trump (and global government in general) starts to create real improved living standards for the 97% of US' small hold farmers and subsidize their farms to transition from monoculture to permaculture over 5 year periods. Farmers create food forests instead of rows stripped of soil.

People start to replant degraded soils with food forests and are rewarded with abundance. For role models, we can look to people like Gary Williams, the designer of James Cameron's food forest in New Zealand.

A whole industry of new jobs arise and flourish that take innovative agriculture tech to the farmers who are trying to restore the soil and create abundance.

We look to the quiet leaders who are rebirthing a new agricultural system, and sharing their solutions. For example:

Because of the ease of entry into small hold permaculture, more urbanites choose this lifestyle. Witness the movements that John Dennis Liu has started with Ecosystem Restoration Camps and biotect Mike Reynolds with Earthships.

People realize that personal health and planetary health are the same thing. JUCCCE's Food Heroes educational program sole purpose is to teach that to our young children and families.

People become more one with nature, commune more with Earth Mother.

Today in 2019, "more than 6% of farm subsidies go toward four "junk food" components: corn syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, corn starch, and soy oils. The federal government subsidizes food that contributes to America's obesity problem." (The Balance)

With the rise of permaculture, and healthy real fresh plant foods as being the more abundant alternative to animal protein, the percentage of caloric consumption in the US of unhealthy ultraprocessed foods will decrease from 80% today (!!!!) to 20%.

With the move from ultraprocessed foods and overconsumption of meat, people live healthier, more energetic lives.

Isn't that a beautiful, compelling vision of our future? Nothing is stopping us from living this life other than our own limiting thoughts that the system controls what foods we choose to put into our own mouths.

As a changemaker who has brought in Smart Grid and the first classes for mayors on how to build ecocities in China, I completely believe in the power of people to #envision and #manifest new realities. How would you add to this vision?

Locally grown foods will be healthier than mono-crops refined, preserved, and transported.

It'd be fascinating to see that Top Markets for US Farm Products on a per capita basis.  Would Hong Kong would come out on top?
