According to the most recent Labour Force Survey from Statistics Canada, employment in Canada remained largely unchanged after two consecutive months of growth in December 2022 and January 2023. At 5.0%, the unemployment rate is barely above the record-low 4.9% that was seen in the summer of 2022. In February, the number of unemployed people in Canada was more than 1 million, basically unchanged from January.

In Canada, a successful Express Entry application generates an electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR). In short, applicants who obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency to Canada in an Express Entry draw must then submit an electronic Application for Permanent Residence (eAPR) to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Applicants who receive eAPRs have 60 days in total to apply for Canadian PR.
