Capgemini Presenting on the Trio Dimension, Data, AI & Geospatial: Charting New Innovation at the Geospatial Council of Australia, in WA Conference.
Wow, what a Friday, attending the Geospatial Council of Australia Conference at our Perth Zoo in South Perth. It was a reminder of my arrival in Perth over 13 years ago. Living in South Perth and commuting via ferry across to the city. The views spectacular and a gentle reminder to always be a Zebra, out the front. A nod to the amazing speech by Amber Anthony 🌈 the day before at the Women in Technology WA Inc. (WiTWA) conference
Last week, Capgemini embarked on a thrilling geospatial adventure, attending the Geospatial Council of Australia's Western Australian Conference. It was a whirlwind of innovation, inspiration, and a whole lot of fun!
Our team was immersed in a world of spatial data, mapping marvels, and cutting-edge technology. From thought-provoking keynotes to live demonstrations, we were constantly amazed by the power of geospatial solutions. It’s incredible how a simple map can reveal hidden insights and drive real-world impact.
My favorite was the Autonomous Ships arriving from Norway from Reach Subsea and all they are doing. I look forward to May 2025. Paul Kennedy presented for Remote Services on System Acceptance Testing of a 300T USV for Australia.
There was also a wonderful technical presentation of the different 3D impainting methods with Deep Learning from Point based, through to convolutional models to GAN based methods and such understanding all of which occurred since 2017 – 2022 Fei, B et al. (2022). Theory and Applications of 3D Point Cloud Completion presented by Dimitri Bulatov
This got me wondering how much of an effect the Quantum Sensing will have on the Geospatial data we collect.

"The (Quantum Sensing) devices will allow users to explore for deeper and small mineral deposits, allow for high resolution resource exploration from drones, allow for the more efficient and safe production from our underground mines, reduce the risk of drought by mapping and monitoring the flow and charge of aquifer systems, directly and cost effectively monitor the total mass of sequestered CO2, and increase navigation certainty in GNSS denied scenarios by providing zero drift and zero bias accelerometers."
The conference was a melting pot of brilliant minds, and we were thrilled to connect with industry leaders, fellow geospatial enthusiasts, and potential clients. We even had the opportunity to showcase our latest geospatial projects and solutions, innovate with our thinking with sparking exciting conversations and collaborations.
Engineers Australia were wonderful in presenting their new ambition to have a Chief Engineer of Western Australia. It was great to catch up with Susan Kreemer Pickford and to hear the future for Engineers Australia WA.
And let's not forget the awards ceremony! Unfortunately, we were unable to attend due to a conflict with the Women In Technology Award in WA, but we heard that it was a night of celebration, recognizing the outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations in the geospatial field.
As we reflect on this incredible experience, we're excited about the future of geospatial technology. Capgemini is committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and delivering innovative solutions that address complex challenges. We can't wait to see what the next geospatial adventure brings!
As promised here are some of the links around what are of interest and innovation to Capgemini and a snippet of what was presented as part of The Trio Dimension for Innovation, Data AI and Geospatial.
Stay tuned for more updates on our geospatial journey! and what else is to come with Quantum Computing and other interesting research topics to come.
