Car segment in Indonesia becoming more dynamics than even before. What we see now is something that probably we never seen before. In the past, we may boring to see almost same position in the table for each OEM/ NSC, almost every single month, but it already change now, that competition becoming more dynamics, more challenging and of course more complex. So many new model, new version, new innovation, new marketing strategy right now. The price positioning range also becoming more complex, wider and also crowded in the same time. Now customer has so many choice and OEM, NSC and Dealership need to come closer and closer to match with market preference.
In February 2019, Toyota still leads with 46,663 units sold, however among its Four Horsemen : Toyota Avanza, Rush, Innova, and Calya, only Toyota Rush enjoys positive growth with 4,341 unit sold in February 2019 or 21.43% growth compare to February 2018 with 3,575 units sold. Daihatsu, is the only member of The Big 5 that enjoy growth compare to February 2018 which is 14.05% with 13,646 units compare to 11,965 units in February 2018. Thanks to Honda BRIO that becoming new leader in top best selling model for 2 consecutive months, with 5,980 units sold in February 2019 and successfully beat the defending champion, Toyota Avanza which grabs 5,700 units, make Honda achieves 10,637 units in February 2019.
Mitsubishi, got 7,549 units in February 2019. The fact that 5,532 units or 73.28% among it, contributed by The Phenomenon Mitsubishi Xpander, make Mitsubishi probably needs to have other goal getter in order to not "too dependent" to Xpander, while maintain Xpander moments to keep its great mark in passenger segment.
The last member of Big 5 is Suzuki with 4,597 units sold. With recent launching of Suzuki Ertiga Sport, with on the road price IDR 241,000,000 for manual and IDR 251,500,000 for automatic, Suzuki really want their strongest weapon, Suzuki Ertiga which got 2.055 units sold or 44.7% of Suzuki's sales performance, to keep Suzuki in the Big 5.
How about Wuling? Everybody should keep on eye for Wuling right now, as Wuling has new star : Wuling Almaz. Here's the reason : Wuling Almaz just launched officially in 27 February 2019 and incredibly, achieves 586 units for full month of February 2019 which is ended exactly in 28 February 2019! Of course there is preview, pre-order periods and so on, but still, it is great success story by any means. You can imagine what is the potential of Wuling Almaz in full month performance basis! Also, this is 5-seaters of Wuling Almaz. Just imagine if Wuling Almaz has its 7-seaters version which is the most favorite seating capacity in Indonesia? And never forget, this Wuling Almaz has IDR 318.800.000 price tag, which is considered as "expensive" for some people, then imagine, if in the future, there is the lower price versions of Wuling Almaz? Yeah, it will boost performance of Wuling Almaz - and Wuling eventually, dramatically. After Wuling, there is Datsun with 632 units sold, followed by Mazda with 429 units sold, Nissan, with 304 units sold, and Chevrolet with 179 units sold.
From luxury segment, BMW also experiences best February ever since 2016 with 175 units sold in February 2019 with BMW X1 maintain its position as the strongest warriors for BMW.
