CIO Chris Mate of Elara Caring sat down with Ben Hilmes, MHA, FACHE to discuss the latest in home care technology, including AI tools that substantially reduce the administrative duties of their nurses.

"Nurses spend up to 48 percent of their day on non-clinical work,' said Mate. "We need to take this 50 / 50 split between clinical care and administration and make it 80 / 20. I think it’s one of those areas that AI really has some opportunities for us. We’ve got a great partner that we’re working with on some AI-driven clinical documentation pilots, and we’re finding we can get that 65 to 70 minutes of charting time down to 15 minutes."

We caught up with CIO Robert Adamson at RWJBarnabas Health just before the final Go Live to consolidate the massive health system on a single EHR platform (Epic). In our chat with Rob, he describes the challenges of the project.

"I came onto the project in August of 2019. At that time, the goal was to take all 14 of our hospitals and 400 ambulatory locations off of four different revenue cycle systems, five different registration systems, and six different electronic health records," recalled Adamson.
