Celebrating 31 Years of HomeServe—Thank You for the Memories

Celebrating 31 Years of HomeServe—Thank You for the Memories

I can't believe it's been two whole years since Brookfield acquired HomeServe. The time has absolutely flown by during my period as Chairman of HomeServe EMEA.

It really has been a fantastic journey. I've had the privilege of working alongside brilliant colleagues who have helped make HomeServe what it is today—a global, multi-billion-pound business employing over 10,000 people around the world. Together, we’ve had a significant impact on homes, communities, and the economy.

From Jayne, my PA, who I've worked with for 21 years, to a lot of the team in Group: Edward Bolus , Emma Thomas , Anna Maughan , and Chris Day , you've all played a vital role in this journey.

To Sikander Rashid , Kumar Shah , and Gabriele Montesi —a big thank you to you and the rest of the Brookfield team for helping us grow the business over the first two years of your ownership.

HomeServe is continuing to grow membership while accelerating efforts to decarbonise homes across Europe. Combining HVAC services with Consumer Finance is making a real difference, and I know the business is well-positioned to achieve even more under Ross Clemmow leadership, alongside Guillaume Huser , Fernando Prieto Gibello , Nick Kasmir , Thomas Rebel , and Mike Jackson .

But as any entrepreneur knows, we keep moving forward—opening new doors and doing new things—because we’re curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

So, I've decided that now is the right time for me to step down from the HomeServe Chairman role. Ross, as HomeServe EMEA's Chief Exec, is doing a fantastic job, and it’s time for him to report directly into Brookfield.

Other than having three amazing kids, my proudest life achievement is founding HomeServe UK and seeing how well it's done over the last 31 years. We are more than a business; we’re a family.

The business is well set up to succeed with fantastic leadership at all levels, and with Brookfield’s backing, I know HomeServe will continue to go from strength to strength.

I’m continuing as Chair of Checkatrade eLocal and will keep championing your achievements across every part of the business.

With more time freed up, my mission remains clear: to inspire breakthrough growth in medium-sized businesses. Through Growth Partner and Business Leader , my goal is to double the number of large companies in the UK from 7,500 to 15,000 over the next five years.

As a champion of peer-to-peer networks I've finally got to take up my own membership of the HomeServe Alumni Club joining friends like Greg Jackson , Leonard Lvovich and Edward Fitzmaurice.

Thank you again for all the support you have given me and the business over the last 31 years. It is the team’s hard work, persistence, and determination that has made HomeServe the business it is today.

Kind Regards,

Richard

Congratulations! Well Done!

Is that the Monte-Carlo Casino?? You parked the home serve van outside the Hotel de Paris? Haha brilliant lol 😆 I'm not sure if it actually is or not but if it is, I'd love to hear that story. Looking forward to the Business Leader event next week in London!

Still love this. Everyone else turns up in Monaco with fancy cars and black tie and you from memory were in a boiler suit and van!
