Entries Now Open for the Product Stewardship Excellence Awards 2023

The Product Stewardship Excellence Awards are back for 2023, shining a spotlight on outstanding achievements and proactive efforts in product stewardship.

The awards recognise and celebrate excellence by business, government, and non-government organisations in meeting Australia’s environmental challenges through better design and management of products throughout their lifecycle.

The awards are conducted by the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence. Award entries have opened and close on August 31. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony being held in Sydney Thursday, 2 November 2023.

The 2023 Award Categories

1. Best Stewardship Outcomes- Collective Scheme

2. Best Stewardship Outcomes - Large Business or Brand

3. Best Stewardship Outcomes - SME Business or Brand

4. Excellence in Digitalisation for Product Stewardship

5. Excellence in Emissions Reductions through Product Stewardship

6. Excellence in Design for Product Stewardship

The Directors of the Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence also confer the award of Product Stewardship Champion of the Year to a person who has made a consistent and high impact contribution to product stewardship in Australia.

The awards provide an unmatched platform to recognise brand owners, manufacturers, retailers, and service providers that demonstrate leadership, dedication, and innovation in a variety of initiatives that promote and accelerate product stewardship.

Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence Director and Chair of the judging panel, Dr Damien Giurco, said “In Australia, the benefits of product stewardship initiatives are significant and wide ranging, promoting good design, making products more repairable and durable, less hazardous, and more recyclable. It is great to be able to recognise leaders in product stewardship initiatives through the Product Stewardship Excellence Awards.”

The Product Stewardship Centre of Excellence was established in December 2020 by a consortium of UTS Institute for Sustainable Futures, the Australian Industry Group and Denstu Australia in partnership with the Australian Government through the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water .
