Celebrating the Mbira with Google
Think of it, a company as big as Google can never publish content that is not originally theirs. When I was in primary school, today would be Culture Day, a day we celebrated our African culture, wear beads on our necks, and make pots out of clay. We would do so many crazy creative stuff but no one ever thought of opening our eyes to this. There is a great opportunity for creatives out there. I know some talented storytellers and musicians who play the mbira. Google is celebrating Culture Day with us, thanks to you. There is a great story about a young girl who fell in love with the mbira at a young age and she pursued her dream, learned the instrument, and ended up playing on big stages. She then inspired a young girl whom I believe reminded her of her younger self when she was curious about learning to play the instrument. In the background, there are popular mbira songs in Shona, in my country. They went on an extra mile and built a web-based game that teaches the player to play the songs in the background. Check out for yourself, this is awesome: https://g.co/doodle/482u5e6. My point is, this company is really huge. This content was originally created for Google. This is what Lisa, one of the game developers said, "Throughout the development process, we worked closely with the friends we made from our Zimbabwe trip, mbira experts, and Shona consultants to write the narrative that aligned with their values, and made sure we represented the mbira and culture with as much integrity as possible." I am advising all African artists to continue working hard on their talents and marketing themselves on a global market. The possibilities are endless. Be the best at what you do, and the best market will find you. Happy Culture Day. #CelebratingTheMbira

4yI saw this and I failed to know how did this came, whether there are Zimbabweans in the Google Doodle Development team and what odds made Zimbabwe get the slot.
