MIND ◾ MINDFULNESS

Challenging the power of your mind is a useful thing to do. I suggest doing it regularly--why? Well, because you have to make sure that your mind knows you're in charge. Let me explain...

All of us have different mental programming due to our upbringing, environment, experiences, etc. and there's programming there that has both a negative and positive impact on achieving your goals. We're taking this time to tackle the negative.

I like to use healthy eating and fitness as an example. Many of us desire to be summertime fine year around but lack the discipline to make it happen. Personally, I wasn't raised in the healthiest household so I'm going against the grain every time I decide to get in shape. Giving my mind the power to choose for me wouldn't be wise because my mind is conditioned to allow comfort and I don't know about you but I don't find comfort in choosing a green smoothie over pasta or fried chicken (God isn't finished with me yet 🙃).

However, every time I choose the green smoothie over the pasta or chicken, I'm sending a signal to myself that I am the boss. I'm stronger than the temptation and the desire to remain "comfortable". Comfortable is rarely the best thing when it comes to supporting bigger goals.

What signals have you been sending your instructor (mind) when it comes to your career goals? Are you giving into comfort or challenging yourself to get what you want?

BODY ◾ MOTION

We coming for all the career wins in March so implement some or all of this list:

📌 Apply to 10 saved positions.

📌 Engage in two activities that will add to your resume and speak to the experience you need in the next position.

📌 Develop and use a job tracking system.

📌 Make an effort to intentionally utilize LinkedIn 3-5 times per week.

📌 Reach out to someone who could serve as a reference and catch up.

📌 Determine what extra steps are you willing to take to demonstrate your interest in a position.

It's never too late to take action or change up the strategy.

SOUL ◾ MAINTENANCE

Lately, I've found it very helpful to seriously question my decisions especially those that I know do not move me closer to anything I'm working toward. It's been very helpful in uncovering that negative programming. Being very transparent, recently I asked myself why was I procrastinating with developing content? I'm not clueless when it comes to content strategy so what's the hold up?

I gave myself excuses and passes granted life doesn't stop because you have a goal. I have the time, I just don't use it wisely all the time. I took time away to take a breather and then some, so there really isn't an excuse but there's this other thing I deal with... a deep rooted fear of failure and perfectionism. You can solve a lot of issues by closely observing your behavior, be a watcher of self. It's the only way you'll figure out where you're making the left turn.

This week try keeping a log of the behaviors that don't support where you would like to go. Take it a step further by revisiting the log and uncover the root of that behavior.

Don't forget to double down on your progress:
