Who is exempt from this?

The individuals listed below do not have to pay the right to permanent residence fee as well as dependent children and protected persons:

  • Sponsored kids of the principal applicants – under the age of 22 and without a spouse or partner, under the family reunification class.
  • Principal applicants under the humanitarian and compassionate consideration and public policy classes.

In addition, if you are a “permit holder”, you cannot include accompanying family members in the permanent residence application. Those who qualify for Canada PR through the family reunification class must submit separate applications to apply for Canada PR from India as principal applicants.
