Changing the Game: AI in Recruitment
Artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the landscape of practically every industry and recruiting is no exception. While some are concerned about the potential threats of AI, there are also many exciting opportunities on the horizon.
As trusted hiring partners, we are committed to remaining at the forefront of developments across the recruiting industry. To better support our clients and candidates alike, we are learning the ins and outs of AI and what it means for the evolution of our field.
The Rise of the AI Recruiter? Not Quite.
While AI is undoubtedly transforming the staffing industry, the future of recruiting lies in working alongside AI, not being replaced by it. AI is a powerful tool when used to automate repetitive tasks, freeing up recruiters to focus on more strategic matchmaking.
Whether it be scheduling interviews or proofreading resumes for grammar, allowing AI to step in where the human touch is not necessary allows recruiters to spend more time on the tasks that do. Recruiters who can leverage AI to streamline workflows, like follow-up cadences, will be one step ahead by focusing their skills on the uniquely human aspects of their work.
AI and the Application Process
As recruiters, one of the most significant changes we see is how candidates use AI to create their resumes. 32% of our candidates admitted to using AI to write a cover letter, resume, or writing sample during the job search process. While tools like ChatGPT or Rezi can be a helpful building block, a fully AI-generated resume can be easily sniffed out by seasoned recruiters. When working with an AI-powered tool to craft your resume, be wary of losing your own voice in the process – recruiters are looking for the real you!
In the interview process, the candidates who are truly setting themselves apart are those focusing on developing strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. As AI continues to drive change across industries, the candidates who remain agile to this rapidly developing landscape increase their opportunities in the long run. Candidates who can demonstrate skills that AI cannot replicate, such as leadership, creativity, and emotional intelligence, will win out in an ever-evolving market.
New Skills for the New Age of Recruiting
Looking to the future, recruiters will need to blend both traditional recruiting expertise and technical knowledge of AI tools and software to stand above the rest.
Understanding how to optimize the recruiting process through AI automation and having experience with AI recruiting software will become increasingly valuable. In a competitive industry it is imperative to remain ahead of the curve and maintain a forward- thinking perspective to keep pace as technology develops.

The Coming Wave of AI Implementation
While AI is still in its early stages of adoption within the recruiting industry, its impact will become more significant in the coming years. We have already begun to see new AI-powered tools enter the recruiting space: from smarter applicant tracking systems to platforms like LinkedIn and Workable implementing AI-assisted messaging or automated workflows.
In the coming years, organizations across industries will begin to rely on AI-powered technology to help them in their recruiting strategies, increasing the demand for AI-savvy recruiters who can bridge the gap between human talent and new technology.
AI: A Threat or an Opportunity?
While some fear that AI will eliminate recruiting jobs, it is also a tremendous opportunity for the industry. At the end of the day, AI is allowing skilled staffing professionals to accomplish more in a shorter period of time while retaining the unique human touch required in this line of work. Staffing is a people business, and people will never go out of style. We are excited about what is on the horizon for the industry, and as technology advances, our strategic expertise is being called on to advise both our clients and candidates on how they can remain competitive in the evolving market.
