Changing the Status Quo

Changing the Status Quo

Yesterday was an important day for the Colorado Assisted Living Association. The association through the vision of its membership and board of directors privatized the "Qualified Medication Administration Personnel" program of the Colorado health department.  House bill 1424 was signed into law by Governor John Hickenlooper yesterday, June 10, 2016.

Why is this significant to you and I?  It is significant because a small association, 150 members, decided that it was time to change the status quo and reduce the influence of government in their business.

CALA, with the help of The Kyle Group, developed and initiated a plan to change  public policy by initiating legislation that privatized the program. By working with other assisted living associations, the health department, and legislators, CALA served as the catalyst for preparing and passing the legislation. The legislation passed the House and Senate unanimously.

Margaret Mead, an American cultural anthropologist, stated, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."  When people come together with an idea, are committed to the idea, they can change their destiny and the "status quo".   Don't believe it, ask the Colorado Assisted Living Association. They did it.
