Chasing ICO's

Chasing ICO's

Chasing ICO’s involves knowing which ones have the greatest buzz amongst skilled and experienced investor’s, learning about their purpose, vetting their team and how closely their skills and experience align with the project, to start. Also, when is their private sale (which is the best time to get in, by the way)? When is their public sale? What is the exchange rate from ETH to their cryptocurrency? Do they give bonuses? And this is just the beginning of the list of criteria to evaluate the value and potential ROI of a new cryptocurrency.

What makes this process a struggle is that you often learn about private sales when the deadline to get whitelisted or KYC’d is within a day or two and approval could take 2 to 7 days or more. Oh ya, and you need to be approved before you can invest.

So what’s a quick and easy way to assess an ICO before you invest? There is no quick and easy way. Anything worth investing in will take time and patience, but one of the very first things I look at is my level of connectivity to the project; is it a cool new product or service that will fill a need for the greater good? Is it something I can use and that others will see value in?

I also like to see how well aligned the team might be to the project. Are the founders or executive team experienced with deep knowledge and skills in the industry and with their product/service or did they get involved yesterday and their just trying this out?

Lastly, it helps to have access to a number of expert investor’s who have been ‘winning’ at the crypto investment game for a while. They are often good at perceiving a hot new ICO but it’s important to take your own interests into account and not just invest because somebody else says so.

Researching and recording details on new ICO’s is a pain-staking yet rewarding practice when you consider the ROI. In other words, it’s a small price to pay for the potentially large benefit that it yields. Even though chasing is a high energy and often exhausting activity, the key is to proceed with patience and confidence to be able to sift through the details and discern the great investments from the good investments.
